The Ohio Rotary guys are trying to get a meet together for July 11th. Doesn't look like they've set a time yet though. I'll probably head up. Hopefully it isn't a wash like last time we tried to meet up with them. Info here

Info on Fuel for the new folks:
Fuel is a coffee shop on 52/Riverside drive just east of downtown. MAP
Coffee and Cars is from 8AM to Noon. I try to get there around 9:30ish. Majority of cars are there by 10:30. Some stay the whole time, other just pop in and get coffee and leave. Good times though and good people. Usually no snobbery, rice, or people acting like idiots.

I just have the factory appearance package. I'd love to get the mazdaspeed kit, but I have better things to do with my car money for now. The appearance package comes up used in the for sale section from time to time, but is pretty pricey to buy new. Mine was on the car when i bought it.

 

How much used?

 

I think i've seen the front, side flares and rear flares go for about $200 to $300 for the set. You can get them from some of the vendors as well. Mazmart will sometimes have them new and used. I believe there are some place to get them for a decent price on ebay, but beware of knockoffs.

The place on eBay has factory appearance packages, both individual pieces and the whole thing (IIRC the whole thing is $600). I got my wife's front lip spoiler from them, and I'm planning on getting the rear flares when I get home. Just be aware some members on here who have bought the aero flares from them report paint chipping, as though they were painted after the fact.

We're waiting to see if the port opens today (was closed yesterday due to Hurricane Alex), if so then I should be home in about a week. Can't promise I'll make it to Fuel the first Saturday though.

 

Good to hear that you're almost home chief. Looks like you have a bunch of parts waiting for you at home. You know that i'm always at fuel on saturdays, so you won't have to make the first one home to catch anyone there.

Yeah I do have quite the pile of parts, although I have been put on notice the first order of business is to find the leak in our pool.

Well my return home got pushed back another week and a half or so (out to two and a half total now). The wife is not pleased at all. And, I will now miss Lady Gaga!

 

Yep ill be there, tanks chief. Im going to look around planning to buy them after july, so ill have some free time. Hoping to find my color so i don't have to spend extra to match my paint.

Looks like the ohio rotary meet is a go for this sunday the 11th. If anyone wants to meet up around downtown and head up together let me know. We could meet up a little further north too if any one between downtown/N. KY and the meet want to cruise up together.

 

Redsun, your car looks nice. Has it been lowered, the rear looks like it but not the front. Of course I'm not sure I would recognize a RX-8 at normal ride height!

Yeah, at this point I just want to get my relief on board. I'm hoping to get some general idea of our future schedule next week so I can plan on when I'll be getting off. A lot will depend upon our next voyage and where we go close to if it's a long one (we aren't allowed to do crew changes in the load port). My wife is about to flip out, four months is about all she can take. Too many things at home that need my attention.

 

Nope the car isn't lowered. Everything is stock, with the exception of side strakes, k&n drop in filter, and interior footwell LEDs.

 

Might be interested in going still. I'll keep you posted. My ABS light and traction light aren't going away, I'm relatively sure it's just a sensor somewhere, since it goes away sometimes. But I'd like to get it checked out before I do any long distance driving.

Redsun: have you disconnected your battery lately? If you have, the sensors just need reset.
Turn your car on, turn the wheel all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, then center it again. Turn the car off. Next time you turn it on, the lights should go out.

Dominico: Isn't there a rest stop just north of there? We could have everyone meet at the rest stop around 12:15 or so. We'll have to pass it to get up there anyway, and it will be easier than a parking lot off of an exit.

 

Strike that, the rest stop is south of the morrow exit. We could always meet up at hustler Hollywood. It's easy enough to find
