Yeah, I raced 2 rounds. They provide everything you need including kart and helmet.

It's $15 for 15 laps - lap times are around 35-40 seconds. The karts are quick and fun. They handle well and honestly my hands were tired after those 15 laps from gripping/working the wheel.

These sure aren't Hinkle carts!

any chance anyone in the alb. area has a sunlight silver rear bumper you're looking to get rid of? my sister has a SS 8 and someone hit her in the parking lot. she's looking to replace but it kills me that she wants to buy one from the stealership.

I think maybe you should recomend that instead of replacing the bumber, she should trade her silver in for another color. It should save much more money in the long run then replacing the bumper..

Curse of the silver strikes.

I got my 8 back from University last Monday night. They had it for the day and didn't find any major problems. They replaced the plugs and reflashed the PCM. The engine, cat and battery were fine. One more 8 through the recall without needing a new engine.......

I like the idea of playing with the karts. It looks like a bunch of fun...although I always enjoy driving the 8 with the rest of the group. Maybe there's a way to squeeze a drive and some kart racing into one day. I think the only weekend we have available for a get together is November 18th or 19th. The rest of the month is pretty booked up.

Take care all,

Craig

Anyone interested in buying my MazdaSpeed light weight flywheel? I'm going to sell it but thought that I'd give you guys first dibs. I'm asking $320 for it. It retails for $500 I think. I can help you put it in if you'd like.

Well, I'm back in the local area...and miss my 2 pounds of boost. Put about 4,200 miles on the car without any issue. Average mileage was about 22...the 80+mph speeds in Texas didn't help the mileage any.

MadDog...can you help explain to me the fuel system 'loop' open and closed. During my trip while traveling at the 80+ speeds the fuel system went into 'Open' loop during cruise. RPM is around 4200. At lower speeds, say 75, it stayed in 'Closed' loop. What's going on here...any ideas?

I withdraw my question MadDog - Hymee has a good discussion on Open and Closed loop status. I just thought (and still do) it strange that it stayed in Open loop in cruise... Engine load was a steady 58-60%, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Txag98- Will ... any word on your car….. Also, any word on when the times will post on the website...

MD I would consider buying it, but I think I would want to get semi racing clutch installed at the same time if I was to do the fly wheel. With Christmas around the corner not enough money in the pocket to take on that project. You getting a new one?

Kewl.. I think i need to get my hands on a scanguage II.. I will have to add it to my christmas wish list. LOL

Not getting a new one. When I swapped engines, I left the stock FW on the new engine. The Mazdaspeed FW is just sitting on the old engine in my garage. The turbo kind of negates makes the light FW negligible. It was quite an effect prior to the turbo, however.

Took my car in friday for recal, as well as to why my engine (sound comming from the transmission area) is making a sound similar to a McDonnalds hamburger wrapper might make when you crinkle it.

Get my car back today, no new engine, and that waxpaper sound is normal. I was told its the heating coils....
However, The rentacar service was horrible. Mazda only gave me 20$ a day which doesnt cover any car on the lot and because I was under 25, got hassled. I hope I dont have to do any further recall services because for $35k, I feel cheated to have to pay for the rental car. (which was $40 / day w/limited insurance).

I'm an RX-8 owner stopping by to say hi.

A few and my buddies and I were making a crest run this weekend (bikes) when we saw about a dozen S2000's heading the other way. I thought to myself, "I wonder if there's an RX-8 regional forum and those guys get together too?" Low and behold you do, I don't know how I missed this section of the forum! Any drives coming up in the foreseeable future?

I don't think there are any drives scheduled, but I think most of us are always looking for a good excuse...

We are always glad to see new folks on the forum. There are a number of us that get together every-now-and-then so please check in often to this section of the forum.

Well No new engine needed. The unusual sound was the heat coils but they didnt know why. And I was greated to a near empty tank which was less then I took it in for.
But all in all everything is fine... im glad to be driving a respectable car instead of a lowly renta-crap.

I'll be checking in regularly! The church autocross is literally a block from my house, I wish I knew there was a RX-8 presence there. There's always next year!

Yeah, I told NMRX8 that I'd help him. Finally another turbo in NM! Yeah!

I do it all myself, all three times the stupid thing has gone on and off - except when MazdaManiac comes over to hang out and help.

coming along pretty well. Right now I'm a little distracted with an emissions testing saga. Its too long for this thread, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the car registered. They no longer do sniffer tests for OBDII cars at all. I was hoping to rely on the sniffer test since the car has trouble codes stored due to the IntX running the show now.

Good luck with the emissions MadDog - there should be a way for an enthusiast to get around some of that crap.

I'm game for any get together beyond this weekend as I'll be out of town. Gonna go drive the twisties up around Durango.

Looking forward to the next get together....
