This is what I posted on KOB's Feedback4. Your comments to Feedback4 might also help the plight of the AutoX stay open.
I am one of the racers that participate at the Hope Evangelical Free Church near Juan Tabo and Montgomery. This is a very positive thing that the church is doing for the youth and the race enthusiast’s of the city. They are giving the youth of Albuquerque and the surrounding areas an option to take their cars out and race them in a safe environment. I am a 40 yr old father of 2 daughters that I take to the event with me every Saturday night. They both look forward to the event as it approaches every month. I also help the organizers from Hope Evangelical Free Church with the layout of the course; the course is looked at before each and every event to provide the optimum fun for the participants, as well as safety of the event. Purposely the course is laid out so no one is able to go faster than 35 MPH. By providing the youth this option to race here at the church, Hope Evangelical has drawn 30-42 (42 cars registered for the event on 09/02/06) off of the city streets that otherwise would have been racing on them, which in turn may have prevented a needless and senseless death. There is no real outlet for these youth in Albuquerque. If the Mayor and the City Council are really concerned about this city maybe they should take a look at the youth and address their needs. In stead of a High dollar arena or a study on weather to put a trolley transit system on Central Blvd., maybe the city should take one of the many vacant lots around town and pave it so events like this could be held. After your interviews on Saturday evening and talking to some of the participants that were there, they stated resoundingly “Well I guess we will have to go back to racing on the streets again”. No matter what happens here the youth will continue to race their cars be it on city streets or in a parking lot such as Hope Evangelical Free Church has provided. Where would you rather they do the racing?

Would any body be interested in a one-day a week (bi-week?) Sonic Drinks Poker Night? Since it seems most people are near sandia, could be a short drive every thursday for a few hours. Could also bet $1 gas cards
Just an Idea.

Hey I got your note from yesterday zeblien . I thought that was your car when I was pulling up to leave for the day. Then when I got to the car and saw your note I knew it was your car. I did not see it out there today though?
I'm always up for drinks and Poker, but the base area is a long way from here as I'm a NW sider.
Beyond that I look forward to meeting some of you and checking out your cars. As new as mine is to me, I love it!
I watched with much jealously about your drive last weekend. Looking forward to the next.
I saw a Silver with a female at the wheel today on Irving - are you here? I wouldn't ask but I waved and got a funny look from her.....
PS:
Today's NM Drive

LOL! Chakara, nice to meet you. I just met that silver driver on irving today. I thought it was someone else so i stopped at her house and said hello. They call them selves "Crazy bitches". Anyway, they arnt on this forum yet. I am a NWester too. And Actualy live off irving sort of. If you would like to meet up some time for drinks at sonic on golfcourse let me know. Im always home after 5:50pm. Poker is good too but doesnt seem to be many people interested.
I am interested but the way my scehdual is, well lets just say I have a hard time finding the time to go to the bathroom. My youngest daughter is taking 6hrs of dance a week and to top it off she auditioned for the Moscow Ballets production of the NUTCRACKER. Well she made it and now I am going to be taking her to at least another 1-2 more hours of dance a week! So I unfortunately can not commit myself.
Chakara what color is your 8? I saw a black 8 this afternoon when I was headed to Cottonwood mall. It was about 3:15 to 3:30 on Coors. What is really wierd is that in the last 24 hours I have seen three 8's! Yesterday evening I saw a black on w/ Texas plates down here in Bosque Farms area, the black on this afternoon & then this evening while headed home from the auditions I saw a red one headed south on I-25 right about Candileria. BTW Chakara welcome to the forum and the ranks of the 8!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Mine is Copper Red. 3 in 24 hours does seem like a lot. I ran into a silver today. We were going the same way so I passed him and we waved. This was on the far west end of Paseo heading east.
Car is a blast. I'm up to about 350 miles so will soon start opening it up more....

Chakara..... Welcome to the club.
Bummed I missed last auto X, but fishing was great. Anyway, university mazda has me scheduled for recall inspection on October 12, 2006. That is the first date available. She said they will be reprogramming car, pulling all spark plugs, compression check on both rotors and inspecting CAT. So see if I get a new engine or not... Chat more soon...
Sorry poker night a no go for me.

I am schedualed for this Friday the 15th.
I just got my appointment for October 23rd. The guy at University said it is taking 1 to 2 days to complete the service. I asked him how it was going so far and he said of the 5 cars they have tested only 1 needed a new engine.
Our group should keep a tally of what work needed to be done to their 8's during the recall. Maybe we should start a new thread. Stinger, you might be the first one of us in the shop so let us know what the diagnosis was.
Several people in other treads have already had their recall work done. Many of them got a new CX7 loaner while the work was being done and almost all of them got their 8's back with a full tank of gas and a fresh wash. I guess we'll see how University compares to the rest of the dealers out there.

Zeblien...your 8 may not be in the recall. If the last six numbers of your VIN are below 206995 then the owner registered with Mazda will get a letter. But you do not need the letter to schedule an appointment. Call the dealer, tell them the VIN...their computer will tell them if you are affected...and will schedule an appointment as necessary.
Zeblien, I received my letter this past Saturday. I actually got two envelopes from MNAO. One described the recall and the other described the warranty extension. Kewl is right though, just call the dealer and they will know.
We are not members of Riverside so that must be someone else. I have seen at least one other red 8 around town.

BTW the subsequent recall program dealer letter does say that Mazda will pay to have the dealer, ..."clean the interior and exterior ....and top off the fuel tank." $20 is allotted (max) to do the cleaning and $60 (max) is allotted for the fuel.
The letter also provides the dealer $50/day if they provide you with a CX-7 loaner car...or some rental. There are some 'rules' attached to the loaner program (e.g. dealer has to be part of the MCode Program, whatever that is), so don't demaind a CX-7.
I don't like being the first guy in, and since I'm not (scheduled for the 19th), I can't wait to hear how Stinger makes out...
BTW Stinger in your case the loaner vehicle may not apply since you are already outside the original warranty period...not sure however...so thread lightly.
