Jon's symptoms sound exactly like what I have been dealing with and there really wasn't anything different I could see between the two machines that would prompt one to connect to the AP but not the other. The AP would power up on the USB cord but there would be no "reconnect" option to connec to the PC.
Though I did do a clean install with my desktop and the laptop was upgraded.
But I also noticed that I didn't have the "reconnect" option.
The AP powered up as if it was plugged into my car with the basic menus.

Question (It seems like I'm asking a lot of them...)
I'm planning to install the RB dual resonated mid-pipe sometime in the Spring. Will I be able to get different calibration then? (I'm assuming that it has to different with the Mipipe?)

it doesn't HAVE to be different but with a midpipe you can lean out the AFR's a bit more to maximize the potential of the midpipe. (don't have to worry about burning up the Cat)
Rexx: the RB pipe is nice but have you looked into the BHR resonated MP?

Logs sent.
I have a question that I couldn't find a straight foreword answer after days of searching....
I plan on going turbo within the next 6-12 months. I want to use the MM FI maps. My question is in regards to using a Electronic Boost Controller while untuned/waiting for the next tune. Should i have my EBC turned as low as possible while tuning? Or should I keep it constant, lets say 5-8psi during tuning.
The turbo I have my eyes on is the MM Garret turbo (i know its limited availability).

Since its been about 3 months and i've only received one tune, I am a little worried about driving my car. I no longer have a second car to drive and am wondering if it will be ok to drive the rx8. Im currently running my 4.0.1 tune and i need to drive the car 4 hours away. Will it be ok to drive it for this long with that tune?

you could always flash back to the OEM map for the road trip if you're concerned. (assuming you're not FI)

Actually, I do. Not only do I use a Mac; but I support them in a business that uses them for HD video editing in a production television environment where they are vastly more cost-effective than any other competing platform for professional HD video editing (price an Avid configured for HD editing if you don't believe me).
I checked out this thread because I was concerned that perhaps the tools being used to create, edit, load maps to the AP device might be platform specific and specifically not include any of the platforms I use (NetBSD, Solaris, and MacOS X), and seeing the above comment leads me to suspect that perhaps an AP might not be for me after all, which is rather disappointing.

If a Mac cannot run Windows software competently in some sort of emulation mode, it is pretty useless as a general purpose computing device.
Having worked in arts and entertainment for over two decades, I was continually dismayed at the Apple-centric world view that music and video editors took.
I'm well aware of the price of Avid editors - as I am of Toaster, Edge, Turtle, ProTools, etc.
I've worked with them all (and owned Apple IIc, IIg, iMac, etc.) and always had to shake my head ruefully.
It is a market that was deftly manipulated by taking advantage of the ego/stupidity combination that typifies the media editor mindset.
There is a reason Adobe went from porting Apple software to the PC to writing PC software and then porting it back to the Mac.
Its a shame that tools are purchased with an iDumb mentality these days, but that is where Apple has succeeded in marketing and that is what we have to accept.
If you are a real-world person, you need a PC - even if you need a Mac in your play world.
All that aside, there have been people that have gotten the software to work on the Mac. Check out the Cobb WEB site.
I do not offer support for user issues like compatibility with your computing hardware.

Coming from someone who learned non-linear video editing on Macs using Final Cut Pro back in school, I can tell you that I saw no reason to stay with Macs afterward and now do editing on Windows.
Even got rid of my Macbook Pro because I never used it.
So I can understand where Jeff is coming from on his previous statement.
That said, I think Apple products are real nice, but shouldn't be considered the "default" system to get if you're into any kind of business or editing field.
...stepping off the soapbox now...
