Gil, trying to PM MazdaManiac is a lot like trying to reach the President via email.

I looked at your question regarding the AP underdrive pulley. First the OP of the thread you linked to might be having alternator issues. I have had the AP pulley on my car for quite some time and have no problems pulling 13.8 - 14 volts at idle.

Increasing your idle speed can help compensate with any power loss. I've bumped my idle speed to 900 rpms because it smooths out the idle and doesn't cause any hunting.

An idle speed change comes part of MazdaManiac's tunes.

I hope that answers your question.

idle voltage is controlled by the voltage regulator, not your idle speed

Up to the point that it can.
If the alternator is spinning too slowly to generate the required current, the voltage will drop and the load across the belt will go way up.

I've got a good ?...

When I install my AP Pulley, should I still use the 4.0.1 base map for the logs or use the original 4.0 base map?

(Mods to date: RP SuperCat, Greddy SP2, Gounding Kit)

PMed you about the voltage.

Does raising the idle to 900 make it much better? Mine is pretty smooth at the 830 so I'm curious.

That would be great!

Unfortunately, I'm still a couple score of AccessPORTs away from breaking-even on the whole endeavor after all the losses last year.

Yeah, that whole thing really sucked. I'm just glad that you are still in business because you make a good product. The upgrade kit was the turbo I originally planned on putting in when I decided to go FI. The updates to the AP tunes seem to have made that whole process a lot smoother too.

Lol, Look at it this way. not like you can really drive your 8 in the snow Especially with the storm that just hit. I can be patient enough to wait for a calibration rather than having it rushed and screwed up.. I'd rather MM takes his time and fine tunes than rushing things out the door..
