The point being is any out of the box tune is going to be a guess and not the optimum tune for your car. So why bother spending the time and money on the AP without getting a proper tune as well. That's where the benefit is. Otherwise it's an expensive datalogger.
My logs are in the datalog thread. I agree that an out of the box tune is not going to be optimal but downloading someone elses tune is not a bad idea IMO if they have similar mods, etc.

It might not be across the board but unless you understand the risks and know what to expect are you willing to risk your motor to do so? Either way, off the shelf tunes still are not as good as custom so while it's free you get what you pay for.

The stage 1 also doesn't alter CEL's, fan speeds, OMP injection, idle or RPM limit etc etc etc.
I will take the risk on my motor, I log everyday and review the logs (as well as asking others who know more than me to review them) and try to spot any problems, etc. I am learning as much as I can and taking my time adjusting little things. Oh, and the Cobb Stage 1 does mask the check engine light. I have not learned to play with the OMP settings yet but I have adjusted the fans, cold rev limit, etc. using the Stage 1 as a base.

I do agree with you 100% that paying for a tune from a professional is the best bet though. No argument there.

No one else's "tune" will work on your car. I've locked them all.

I don't remember ever seeing automatic maps for download. You're best bet is going to be downloading accesstuner race for your specific application and using it's base map.

AFAIK there is no difference between the 04 and 05 so the answer would be yes... but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So I was loading datalogs to my computer and for whatever reason ran the updater. It updated my ap to version v1.6.1.0-13257. AP-MAZ-001. And the updater is now 1.2.5.1-13735. Is this okay I thought there would be no more updates?

Good question - does the Cobb AP do anything to the ECU in an automatic to make the shifter paddles shift gears faster?...they are pretty sluggish when using them to shift and i would think its the ECU that controls that

Dumb Question - does the Cobb have any effect on the speed limiter in an auto?

Plz don't hate
Thanks

The TCU and the ECU are different birds and the TCU is not controlled by the AP. After proper tuning you will find that the whole process of shifting has changed somewhat due to the limited ECU input to the TCU (smoother and a little quicker). I'm sure MM could explain it better but that is the end result.

I have no speed limiter but am told that the AP will not effect it if you have it. You are stuck with it. Again not technical but "Thats the way it is".

I can't speek for Cobb but are not marketing it any longer. Why would they invest more $ in a market that they are no longer marketing in??? Maybe you did not read the previous posts that show they want out completely. Someone we know may/will save us from not having access to the AP but will not expand it's present level. New version! You will be lucky to have the present version available.

It's not new. It's just before they discontinued it. Some time early august. Only the updater is new b/c it's the same for all APs.
