that msd dashhawk looks awesome flash, but it seems pricey since the ap does just about everything else except on board data logging.....300 bucks is a lot of money to log data

Part of the problem is very few people follow the directions.
An e-mail should look like this:

Joe Schmoe
JSchmizzle on the forum
2006 FI M/T Cali
My CURRENT calibration is attached
A graph of my WOT and cruise AFRs is attached
Nothing more or less.
If you just need a different version (FI, A/T, Cali, different year, etc.) just put that in instead of the attachments.

woohoo! I did it right! I think lol. I know this could be a very plain and simple answer, but since I've already sent my email... I didnt actually attach the calibration since it was yours, I just included the full name of it. Is that problematic? I just kind of assumed you would know all details for that.

Something else, which was just me not thinking about it. I sent a screen shot of the graph from the efidude software and didn't even realize till the next day that it doesn't really have a grid of any sort... so I'm rather sure it isnt a useful graph like that lol. Should I resend the full email with the data transfered to a more usable graph? Not sure what would make things the easiest.

I agree that it's a lot of cash for JUST the datalogging feature. The dashhawk is capable of reading the majority of the OBDII sensors so it's a great replacement for gauges.

There is also logging software you can get for laptops which will do much of the same thing. The importance is to be able to drive your vehicle and get accurate data for all your gears in various load ranges.

Mainly the two types of logs you would need is WOT in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear and cruise data for 5th and 6th gear in open loop.

This will help make sure you only have to request a couple calibration changes instead of several.

He's already said many times earlier he wants the file attached, not just the name. There are many different ones apparently and it's easier for him to keep track when he gets the actual file.

ah... read a fair amount of this thread but hard to not miss a post when it's 168 pages long lol. I think the bigger concern is the graph... it has all the data there but not very useful if you cant read it.... guess I'll make a graph of it.

They want the Euro/Jap distro channel to handle the sale of hardware, limiting me to software only.
However, I have sold several units in those markets, but they were NorAm spec PCMs, so I don't have any better data.
I'm working on having a few "spare" APs around to ship for experimentation (an expensive experiment at that) if Cobb fails me on support for those markets.

EDIT:

I just sent another pestering e-mail. Lets see if I get a response.
Yeah keep pushing! If you need any help from us writing directly to Cobb or something let us know. As soon as you have the first unit for Europe I am ready to take it off your hands

Was just out trying my new map, haven't had time to do my manual logging yet, but am I imagining things... I'm 99% sure the sound of the car is different, it sounds a bit more aggressive/wankel'ish. Could the difference in exhaust temp. do that?

Which brings me to thought number two. The engine bay and exhaust tip area both feel noticably hotter. I guess I should log "by hand" and see if it's cat-killing values, cause I can't use that for long in that case Would have to send off for new maps then.

Just curious about the exhaust note (I have a Mazdaspeed exhaust btw)

Yeah, I experienced very significant increases in heat which got worse and worse, so I'm taking it in to Mazda to get them to see if the cat has been slagged. Definitely something to watch out for, if you notice the exhaust heat going up a ton without changes in coolant temps you might want to datalog and then swap to stock maps until you sort that out with Jeff. I'm reasonably sure I caused damage to my cat with the tune, so if you start seeing heat problems, better to be safe than sorry.

I would love to, unfortunately I'm stuck with having to have a cat. So I'm going to an RP supercat to at least free up some flow. It's not ideal but several people are running FI with the RP supercat, so it should do the trick.

I believe his initial posts stated 8 to 10 days from receipt of payment for delivery and to email him and NOT send PM's.

If it's been 10 days drop a message but otherwise hang tight. He's got to get the AP's from COBB, load on the maps and then ship them to you.

Read the first post again.

All instructions are there. You need to get a datalogger so you can data log your car and send the info to MM with the current map you are using to get a custom tuned one for your car.

when you get a CAI, depending on which one you'll probably need a new map.
like Daemos said; datalog, follow Jeff's email instructions and he'll send you an update.

dudelogger (http://www.efidude.com) or grab the Cobb Race beta and log with it.

I've used sCANalyser too but it's pretty buggy compared to the EFIDude appliance. Race has been causing bluescreens on my carpc so I can't provide much input there, except to say that if it had come out 6 months ago I probably wouldn't have bought sCANalyser or efidude.
