No, just put it in 4th ad hold 4200 RPM for 30 seconds and get your AFR.

For a 4AT it would be appropriate to do that in 3rd I'm assuming?

A couple of points:

Please refrain from trying to get "service" from me here on this forum. Your posts get buried and I will miss stuff.
Same goes for PMs. Its just too much information.

Please re-read the first post of this thread very carefully.

I need any requests for changes and updates to be made exactly as outlined in the first post.
Without that information, I will not be able to keep track of what is going on.

I am getting a lot of "didja git it" e-mails that follow up other e-mails that are missing information, are using an e-mail address other than the one that the AccessPORT was purchased under or are sent to the wrong account or with the wrong subject line.

Please re-read the first post of this thread very carefully.

Thanks!

True!

The process gets a bit more "refined" as I go along.
To answer your other question, 3rd is fine for the A/T.
The idea is to get to 4200 RPM for 30 seconds or so on a flat surface without getting arrested.

Just got my MM AP this week, I don't have a lot of automotive savvy, but I'm trying to learn. On the initial install of the AP, it asks for the short tern fuel trim (STFT), I did as directed and I got alternating readings of 1, -0, -1. It stayed on 1 the longest period of time so I went with that and chose the NA 1c1a calibration. As for as the instructions Jeff sent for custom calibrations, I don't know how to Attach a copy of the calibration you are currently running and a GRAPHICAL datalog of your WOT operation in second and third gears with AFR, RPM and MAF or load shown. Also include a graph of your sustained cruise AFR (above 4200 RPM for more than 30 seconds in 3rd or 4tth gear).
A screen shot of your logging software or an Excel graph is best.
Before I get flamed, I truly am trying to learn. Thanx in advance for any and all help.

You can attach the calibration that you are running by finding the calibration file on your computer that matches the name of the one that you're currently using on the car and attaching it to the e-mail message that you send MM, like any other document file.

As for the AFRs, you either need a data logging device, or to manually take note of the AFR reading from the AP as you're driving.

So how much hp increase can I truly expect on a '05 4AT with a couple of bolt ons? I know I sound retarded but please answer the question. =D

^^^ That is a VERY tricky question.

Horsepower is dependant on so many different factors that it's not clear cut how much you'll gain with new maps.
- Ignition coils, plugs, wires, air filter, catalytic, etc etc. If any of those isn't functioning properly, you might not see any increase.

The true gem to the AP is what it can do for your car; better cooling via lower fan temps and increased oil via OMP which can do wonders for the life of the engine.

All that being said; there IS hp to be squeezed out of the car with the AP, just depends on the map. My last dyno showed quite an increase but I need to verify the findings via a different dyno just to be certain.

Take a look at my dyno day findings from 2 years ago (not the one from a few months ago) and just there you'll see cars that were plus or minus almost 20 hp just because of a few bolt ons, etc.

It depends on the state of tune your car has from the factory.
There is a very wide variation in how these cars come from Mazda.

You could actually gain nothing power-wise.
You could gain 15 or 20 HP. Maybe more with a hands-on custom tune.

The AccessPORT's value far exceeds the sum of its parts, so to speak.

But you WILL get improved driveability and engine longevity. THAT has been said a hundred times on this matter.

That's what i tell people when they ask me about the AP. Power is just ICING on the cake.

I'll have a dyno chart in a couple weeks (9/12 to be exact) for my 04 AT... Unfortunately I will not have a non AP baseline to show for the sake of comparison.

I'm not anticipating any big jumps. As Jeff and Jedi, and Charles, and others have already stated, I think I've benefited in numerous other ways... leaner AFR and higher OMP rate are the two biggest imho.

With that said, I've got to get some new charts off to Jeff. I want to go into the tune/dyno as tuned as much as possible.

Jeff,

I might be a bit slow on the intake. (it's stock afterall).

Do you need me to resend the calibration request / info since your requirements changed, with 4200 cruise rpm after 30 seconds and all? I wasn't sure if that was aimed at me, or if you already process the requests you got already anyway.
