Cobb AccessPORT Discussion
DAMN!! Beat me to it^^^^
yeah if you gots jeff's maps you will burn more oil... he did that VERY MUCH on purpose....
Has anyone else noticed this??
that after flashing the ECu wth the AP the car seems to be burning more oil than normal???
Its not that much but it seems i have to tope it off more frequently than i used to..
i havetn read anything on this but injecting more oil also cause more oil to be burnt???
may be a dumb question but i just dont see anything about this topic being discussed

So what happens if you want to return it to "stock" before you take the car in for service at the dealer? It goes back to a pre-MSP16 state?
It goes back to whatever flash you had on the car prior to installing the AccessPort. So if you had MSP16 done, then you'd have that, if not, then no.
Please stop saying the car burns oil. It sounds like it is faulty.
It uses oil for the seals not burn it like sloppin pistons.
Does a motorcycle chain burn oil?

Request for ECUExplorer for the RX-8
THIS is what i was referring to a while back when i asked about freeware/open source data logging..... i KNEW i had seen something out there, now i just have to find it again. i fail at navigating Cobb's site
it will be interesting to try the datalogging with the scangauge plugged in on a splitter.... i'll post about that in the other thread i have
EDIT: apparently the ecuexplorer is a bust for out cars...
http://forums.cobbtuning.com/forums/...559#post523559 i'll still give it a shot if no one else can confirm its still a no go for RX-8's

i know that Cobb prolly has bigger fish to fry, especially with the StreetTuner software and its datalogging capabilities. but i still think there may be a substantial collective desire for an open source freeware datalogging.
if you would like to eventually see this, make it known on the Cobb forum here:

Jeff was forced to test the PCM recovery functionality of the AP a long time ago. He had no issues recovering from bad scenarios, pulling the plug while flashing etc..
I'll be ordering one of these when I get my car if it's possible.
) email exchanges and was wondering where you'd disappeared to. Hope all is well. You've got a couple emails from me with updates. Looking foward to hearing back from you next steps wise. I made up to page 40 in this thread, couldn't take it any more, and jumped to the last page.

no more or less than it was before. only difference is now its KNOWN that the mazsport coils have different dwell characteristics. as long as you AP maps are setup with this in mind you are good to go. Being NA / FI also has some impact on coil dwell setting adjustments. its entirely possible that you dont need to have the coil's dwell changed. those answers are somewhere in this thread as well as the ignition thread
