well doesnt look good, just got a call from mazda telling me both rotor housings failed the compression test....lovely . I didnt get the #'s but I will when I go pick it up. they were happy to offer me a $3800 replacement but I think I will pass. Anyone here done their own swap before?

I think I will read through the service manual then start my forum research....can you point me to any useful threads before I get the ball rolling.

Motor # 3 here I come

you guys are funny....I plan on tackling this myself, I have most everything I need space and tool wise...I am only lacking personal experience with this specific process (gotta learn somehow). I would be happy to supply beer if anyone is interested in assisting looks like several steps that require more than my wife’s "magic touch"

I know I set myself up for a bashing, I was willing to take one in this case.

The timing of this couldnt be "better"....work project, kid starting school, antoher kid in daycare, 2 work trips out of town coming up where I would need 2 cars, and property in LA I have to work on.

I guess if it was cool and sunny everyday we wouldnt apprecieate that much! (although I could go for some rain)

I hope so, I will be running a water cooled and oil cooled turbo and so that along with the heavy duty coolant seal upgrades, the radiator upgrade, and the secondary radiator I should have any heat issues in check.

I am trying to source a mazmart water pump from another member as we speak, if that does not happen I'll probably try a new OEM type. My old one had a bit of rust on it.

No mazda has no part in this one, it's on my dime. This will be my fourth motor in 126,000 miles. This is a newly built motor by pineapple racing and upgraded turbo kit by AMR. SARX will have some of the fastest RX-8's around once Hoss-05 and Grungepup get their builds finished. If Shady decides to represent SARX then we would have one hell of a presence at the Texas8 and other events

Then hopefully all this boost will rub off on Cornholio135 and others who have beautiful 8's. My next step after this is to get my car as show ready as Cornholio135's and Missy's car.

I'm just glad that I can finally park next to Tito without feeling insignificant

I thought I have seen somewhere that the 09+ impeller would bolt onto the older pumps.

LOL @ Grungepup actually boosting ever :P I hope he dose.

We will have some crazy nice cars. 99% of my parts are on the floor already. I ordered my RB rear flare things to go with my Mazdaspeed sides and front today.

I think i will end up Really taking my time with the SC install though. I will have a bunch of little odds and ends that will pop up. I hope to start ordering some of those here in the next month or so. I for sure want to get the R3 in before I do the change out of the engine trans clutch cooling and oil stuff.

I guess for now I want to focus on the body and suspension bits and we can even do further work on the sensor package.

On another note any one looking for a room mate? It is my goal to move back by December then buy a house after my taxes get back and I would like to live on the cheap until then. I may be back earlier pending on jobs.

No problem man, anyone is welcome to come learn. It's a first for me (in this car anyway) so I'm not rushing it and thankfully I don't need to rush since I have a rental to drive everyday. But I don't really have a schedule, I'm just working as my parts come in.
