RE deal is to rebuilt the engine at 0.001mm precision. Factory come out is 0.03mm precision. That's why they charge so high price. Bear in mind that factory produce a lot everyday and RE treat your engine individually. Anyway, to be safe, buy a new engine. When I get my car, then I can comment if the RE deal worth it.

In Japan, most rotary owners rebuilt they're car yearly...... That's why RE is so busy.... 0.01mm or 0.03mm won't make much differents, when times come it just end up the same..... KABOOM!!!!!! hehehhe

0.001mm la against 0.03mm. That's quite a significant difference. But if what you said is true, then I guess people go to Amemiya to maximise the enjoyment of the engine before it goes KABOOM?

Thanks for ur opinion bro. but sending it from aussie will be problem to me cause i need to tackle the custom and documentation myself. if i rebuild the mech in kl already promise to come over cause there is 2 car tat need to be fix here. which blow on the same day.

Bro i am still waiting for the price to be made. ah choy say at least 10k for my repair. i think if its around there i will do rebuild. if its over then i prefer buy a new engine at 20k.

since mine is second rotor broken. all i can think of is changing : apex seal set, rotor ring set, gasket and water seal set, may be engine housing and rotor.

all these parts need 10k?

don't forget the hotel, air ticket and labour charge is not inculded yet.

if all these add up almost to 20k i will buy a new engine. cause every part in the engine is new. engine is a tear and wear kinda thing. of course at the end of the day its all go down to kaboom, totally agree. but it might not go kaboom so soon i guess.

don't know why. although the engine blow. and i am all in a trouble to get it fix. i still love this car.

Trick is to always keep an engine on stand-by....... Sooo, when it goes "KABOOM"..... just swap engines and rebuild the blown 1 for stand-by again....That's what i did when i had my previous Rx7...... This way, ur car doesn't get stranded @ the workshop too long....

Trying to do it for my Rx8...... Need to source a used unit first larrr..... Or, if i have enuff funds to play with, buy a brand new 1 and put that on stand-by..... All depends on budget.....

Now got family, cash goes to my house, wife and daughters first....then only go to my car....
Before (single + Rx7), only throw money at my car......hahahahaha........

I guess changing the seal kit once a year or at certain mileage will be able to solve the problem. Of cause, driving habit contribute a lot too.

i think before it blow just change the apex seal will do... but since it already blow... i think got alot think to change ed.. i though is just cost 4k to5k to change the seal... other RX7 happen like tis before ? I thought change it in 80k to 100,000km, unless u rev alot... else change it at 50k once... before it happen, does tempreture go up high ? or just kaboom with no warning ?

see this 2nd renesis engine coming on year 2010

Can be done without sacrificing current features, but very time consumming... You take some, you give some....

I calculated RM11,500 (apex seals, gasket, 2 NEW rotor housings, 1 NEW middle section housing, 1 NEW rear housing and labour) without shipment and flight..... If Ah Choy gonna get more from you, you might just ask for local help.......

As for my only experience, when you hear the exhaust sound suddenly increased compare to normal, don't drive or at lease don't rev the car. Send to mechanic to do a compression test. Before mine blew up, the exhaust sound did increased and sounds like the N1 style exhaust. I thought it was the exhaust problem only and keep on revving, then blew.

I reckon that don't save the few K ringgit from doing the right thing at the 1st time.

In you case is different, you blow it while you're over-reving it straight after oil change....... There're heaps of ways to blow it....
