GREAT NEWS, AT LAST!

My dealer called this morning and my car will be with me next week, it's on a transporter at the moment!

Cheers

Brilliant news! I was very impressed by Velocity Red when I saw it last night and that was inside under artificial light. In sunlight it'll be mind boggling. No regrets about the Grey though.

My car is all PDIed and ready to go, however it now seems reg docs are held up in postal strike somewhere so I may have to wait a few more days. Oh well hope strike is over quickly and they clear the back log.

One downside of having a personnel plate from day 1 and not doing a transfer later.

Andy 1 pic attached, it costs nothing to register on mazdarotaryclub.com if you want to see the rest.

Maz1986 what a shame, especuially as the car looks so much better without a front plate (and certain camera avoiding advantages).

I've decided that if I go for a personal plate it will be next year, as there is no harm driving round with the current latest reg for a few months.

Cheers

Too right 'no regrets about the grey' Lensman...take a look at this pic...the reds, black and silvers are going to say "I should have gone for silver..!!"

Well at least you didn't say 'yellow'.

On a more serious note: I'm getting increasingly concerned about the effect that the wretched postal strike will have on our delivery dates. If vital documents are stuck in sorting offices then surely the cars won't be driveable until the strike is over. If, after waiting all this time, my car is delayed at the dealer because of unofficial strike action by postal workers then I will be a huntin' posties!
(I should point it that my local office in Cambridge IS on strike!)

Well the strike has ended now according to the news but it's going to take a week to sort out the backlog. Should be sorted (no pun intended) in time for me though.

i think the captain of your boat (as me) has been told to put his foot down - lots of 5th Dec have become 25th nov... Here's hoping there is a good tail wind/current too!

Exclamation

Just a word of warning concerning the postal strike for those collecting in the next few days.

Picked mine up on Saturday and the dealer rang me on Friday night to enquire as to whether I had recieved a voucher for the £1000 deposit from Mazda UK to give to him. Well answer is no I hadn't cos of the post strike, but this was the first I had heard of having to have any such voucher. Came to an amicable understanding with dealer who allowed me take the car without said voucher - but it may be a problem with less trusting dealers.

Plozak,

I think the voucher your dealer was talking about is the certifacte we received from Mazda UK once they had received our orders/deposits - cause it does state to take it when collecting the car and states the £1,000.00 deposit has been paid.

Dealer called today, delivery to them 14th Nov + a few days prep. At last. Also dropped in and saw their demo Titanium and black cars. The black car was on the ramps, some monkey had used part of the radiator to tow it with, Oh dear! one new rad being fitted. Wouldn't be happy if it was my car tho'.....

Had exactly the same issue when I went to collect mine - after the funds had been transferred, forms signed, etc etc - the dealer asked to have the certificate, I said "what?" and he hinted that I might not be able to take the car away without it. There followed a short conversation which concluded with me driving said car off the forecourt.
It does not say anywhere on the form you have to do this, its another Mazda gaff. But probably wise to take it, to avoid the high blood pressure situation that I encountered.

I have been told today that my delivery has been put back to the 5th December from the 2nd December. My delivery seems to be slipping back when others are getting earlier.

Jon / Rexy

I have a call in with Mazda UK which I hope they answer soon concerning this. I know that I do not have such a voucher and never recieved what seems to be described as a "welcome pack". This doesn't supprise me as about 20% of my mail in East London seems to go astray and there are ongoing issues with the Post Office here even before the Strike.

Anyway - good advice for all those still to collect to hunt it out and avoid high blood pressure.

Jusy driven my dealers RX8 6-speed, fantastic. As Autocar said (I think) "this is a very chilled out car". I now know what they mean. Then the dealer told me that my car is being delivered this friday!!

It's funny how reviewers’ comments suddenly make sense. I have heard a lot about being 'connected to the car' on all types of previous 'good car' reviews and until now did not know what they meant...I do now...

No sign of the dates moving forward in Wales - seems like Mazda are applying the usual chaos theory to the order of delivery.

sgtp,

That can not be possible, unless it is a cancelled order. what spec is your car?

If true I find that really annoying. It means that many of us could have got our hands on RX8's this year without going through all of the 'pre-order' stress that we've had to endure.

Its almost certainly a cancelled pre-order that matches the spec. From talking to a couple of dealers the average number of pre-orders was 10 and cancellations 2. So there will be a few lucky people able to get their hands on a car almost straight away.

Cheers
