Has anyone taken delivery of their car from Beaconsfield yet?

 

I pick my car up tomorrow, then its off for a weeks holiday deep
in the north yorkshire moors - definitely RX8 country. Just hope I
am not the first to wrap one up!

Personally I have never found a system that is as good as a map,
plus I don't like being told where to go.

 

I like to think of it more as being "advised" where to go! :D

 

I saw my car at the dealership today but almost wish I hadn't because it was pre-pdi and was covered in dirt, leaves and water as well as the transit protection. They'd also backed it up against a bit of vegetation which was infesting the rear end so I sincerely hope it won't get scratched (they insisted it wouldn't and as they park all their new cars there I presume they know). I'd much rather have seen it polished and de-plasticed but hey, at least it's here even if I know it'll be out in the elements until I take possession next tuesday. Jon Brittan's car was next to mine and my dealer pointed out that Jon has asked them to do NOTHING to it so that he can take it away, claybar and Zaino it. I'm not as patient and will put up with the dealer wax (for now). It begins...

 

I also saw my car yesterday, it came in Wednesday 12th Nov. I collect next Wednesday morning.

Car was due on the 25th at dealer

Getting really excited now.

Went to the dealers today to see my car and there it was in the workshop having the protective coverings removed from the interior plastics.

The outside wraps were off as well but it hadn't been washed and polished, chap working on it said they were rushing it through so I could pick it up today. Sure enough on further inspection strakes and accent were on along with my number plates.

What a killer, the finance hasn't come through yet, so looks like Wednesday will be the day for me. Although once I get confirmation the money transfer has been submitted, I'm tempted to see if the dealer will let me take the car with a fat deposit and a promise to pay the rest a few days later.

 

Titanium Grey thats such a shame about the finance. A week before mine was due in I phoned up the dealer and asked for his bank details. He said maybe I should wait incase there were any delivery delays. But I wasn't going to take any risk and would rather the money was sitting around in his bank account, than the car sitting around in his show room. Luckily I did, as the car arrived a day early.

Car arrived at dealer today - pdi tomorrow - ready for me Wednesday.

Had been given date of 25th November so about a week early.

 

Hi, European 8maniacs !!! I live in Tuscany and I must admit that, after driving a test-car 8 last week, I can't help staying up all nite long waiting for mine to be delivered! Naturally, my baby's a Hi-Power,Velocity Red version, with Black/Red leather interiors and I guess (and hope) it will distinguish itself amongst Fiat,Alfa and other cars 'round here.We also have many BMW's, Mercedes, Opel and so on,but my....er...OUR baby will drive 'em all crazy(not to talk about girls!!!). My 8 should reach the dealer on December 15th, and I'll be able to ride it on the earliest days of January (for bureaucratic reasons).Anyway,I'll keep you informed! It's nice to be a member of such a big well-minded club! :D :p

 

My delivery to Exeter is expected on 5th December (with s.e. of +/- 1 week!).

Have to get to the magic 700 miles before the frost kicks in.

Just been told by T W Whites that if my car comes in on the expected 25th November it is "very unlikley" to be ready until the forst week of December. I have emailed Jeremy....

 

Edo are you having many accessories fitted? If you aren't the dealer should able to do the PDI in under 48 hours.

Mine came in at 4pm on Friday afternoon, and was ready for collection Monday morning.

So if they are telling you over a week, insert a rocket in the appropriate orafice!

I spoke to my dealer yesterday, car is now showing up as delivery to them 29/11/03,which is a saturday. I am hoping it will be befor there though. Has anbody else had a date which falls on a saturday, but the car has turned up before?

 

Mine went from Sun 9th, to Sat 8th, but arrived late on Fri 7th.

Mine arrived today and was expected early/mid December. Ordered at the end of February.

 

OK .. Mine was confirmed as being unloaded from the ship in Rotterdam on 10th Nov. My dealer expected the car would be delivered to them within 7 days of that, but the system says 26th

Still no sign of the car though.

 

It's lucky it wasn't delayed until Mon 8th or Tue 8th
