Xexe....Dave you seem to be great guy..I wil be tuned in this thread to see everything new...At this moment i run out of cash to update with a whole new turbo system but if the kti you are planning goes in production and the life of the motor won't dramatically decrease i will think about it...

Thanks for the good comments bro...Wait to see it in January finished...An wait to see my custom trunk next week. You won't have seen anything like that in a daily driver...

The Plugs are the opposite you told me , I had a look on the block . Its actually written on there !!
the leading plugs are actually at the bottom . Logically seems opposite ,,,,like you said
Someone has put the plugs in the wrong way on the front , and the right way in the back . It luckily enough was like this for a couple of hours !!
A reason why It was'nt idling properly , Spewin !!No one is fessing up to it. Boo Boo

Idles Perfect now ,,,So smooth
A LS1 Monaro has stolen the dyno today .......the whole bloody day !!
I need the car ready tommorow . They say it only takes an hour to two to tune
So fingers crossed

Keep ya posted

Still playing with plug types
ATM got the stock leading7's and NGK 10 EIX in the trailing
Idles nice , hope the difference in heat ranges wont pose any problems
Dyno today will sort that .
I have a set of NGK 9eix i was planning on using in the leading but it idles perfect now with the stock leading plugs ...Might tune it then try the 9's , see if there is any difference

Just got home from cruizing around the Coast .
The Dyno figures are will be posted tommorow , ....bit late now 11pm
We got a wisker over 190 RWKW at around 6k ....We are safe there
I am going to make a couple of little changes to hopefully get that 200RWKW
Cant wipe the smile off my face . The acceleration is awesome
I am going to make changes now that I have the first proper dyno
This has been a blast .

I also need to take it down the quarter , ...Dyno figures are one thing but , the real proof is the cars drivability and performance ( 0-100 kmph..1/4 mile )
It feels really quick ....like a 13 sec car ....well see

Water temp is 98c after dynoing ,,,,then hard driving on the motorway, so im happy with that ....

I need a fuel press guage , oil temp/press and boost ......comming ....soon
Just dont like them all over the dash. Takas looks neat !
I saw a while ago a 3 in 1 guage , and that looked nice
Mmmmmmm

Keep ya informed

Much love

Dave

Hi all,
Do any of the turbo or S/C kits include any modification to the oil metering system?

Latest Dyno

The First official / proper Dyno

The blue is the high boost
And the red is the second stage map / low boost
The low boost is too high boost wise for my liking , and that may have to do with the wastegate design
So now at least I know this is a good starting point for me to work on
There are many options to do , so it may be a trial and error thing
It still is boosting a little too late,
From 3-4000rpm it is making 75rwhp (55Kw) and from 4 to 5000rpm its making 82 RWHP ( 60 KW) , so, although thats impressive , I would have preffered the boost to come on bettween 3-4000rpm,as you can see it starts boosting at 4-4500 rpm
So far this map shows a huge midrange punch ,
For a comparo the power figures from 4-5000 rpm is double the Greddy's overall power , over Its whole rev range .In summary the kit is 117 RWHP ( 86Kw) over my stock RX8
So today Im chopping up my waste / dump pipe to see if we can get some better flow
Maybe need also a smaller turbine housing / wheel to get it on boost quicker
Sorry thinking out loud
I am still happy with the fact that most all power is made at 6000rpm .which means I dont have to rev the ring out of it to make power .
I must say at 9000rpm the sound is deafening .....really loud !!
Overall I am happy with the power ,but I want it the boost to start earlier That way we MAY .....hang on WILL see that elusive 200RWKW .....( at 6000rpm mind you )
Quarter mile comming up

OK back to work

Ciao

Nice work Ciao...

Is the power dropping off at 9000rpm or is it the max power now is at around 7000 rpm.

I don't think it is a huge problem now since I think the 8 need to shorten their gear ratio, have you work out where does the rpm each gear drops back too. I am too lazy to get my calculator out.

We dont want to boost up there at 9000rpm , it can get dangerous , bad fuel etc
We want at 9k to have around 7psi
I want this to have a strong low and a huge midrange power band . The 8 needs that , The midrange power is there , I just want to beef up the 2-4k rpm range .
Should'nt be too hard

That dyno doesn't mean a real lot unless the stock graph is there as well for the comparison.

I can't help but to say this, and I'll say it as diplomatically as possible, but it must feel like **** to drive if you rev it past 7000, as the power drop off is very considerable past that point. I was worried mine flattened out up there, but it didn't drop like that.

So are you saying it doesn't make enough boost down low, and at the same time it can't make enough power up the top end? I.e. the punch doesn't come till 4000 RPM and it is all over by 6750?? Or am I missing something?

And are you saying the management system is not up to the task of handling things all the way to 9000?

Cheers,
Hymee.

I agree with you that it is **** not to use the hold rev range available to the engine but if you put the rev limiter at 7500 hehe Maybe it is the only solution

Won't it be great to get it to 9000 rpm, even though most FI I see will have a flatter power curve at that area - but 3000 rpm of the same power

Keep working on it.

This is the first Proper Dyno , so Ive got some tinkering to do
I would like to get the boost on sooner
Its a process of elimination , so I 'll start with the Dump pipe first
Then the boost

Im not gonna start a contest ,But that wasnt called for
And it actually doesnt feel like **** ......Read the road test .https://www.rx8club.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=592 It feels amazing
At least Ive shown actual dyno figures ......why havent you?
Or pricing for that matter ....
I find it laughable that you have taken over a year and have'nt shown neither power figures OR Pricing .....how hard is that ....
The information I get is the same as the forum gets .....no hiding or witholding any info . I know doing this makes me vulnerabvle to public scrutiny but I can hack that
This is a process , Im taking all forum members through
Instead of starting **** and bagging something . Why dont you offer solutions ....you seem to have all the questions ??

Ciao

Dave

No pissing contest, just posting my opinions like I have since I began contributing to this place.

Actually, my full quote was "feel like **** when you rev it past 7000", not feel like **** all the time. I'm sure it feels good while it makes power. I know what a car feels like to drive when the power curve flattens off.

Please don't acuse me of not contributing. That is getting personal. I've shown comparisons between stock and where we currently are at in development.

People who asked have been given prices, so I can't accept when you accuse me of not.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I have'nt done a emissions test yet . I want to refine the dynamics of the kit first ,
then we'll check that
BTW has any FI kit done an emissions test yet ?
I know here in QLD the laws are pretty slack....if your not attracting attention , then no one cares
But it is definitly on the to do list

Thanx

Dave

I've edited my comment, as perhaps the word "****" got you offside.

"It must feel bizare when the power falls right off after 7000RPM"

So, how does it feel to you to drive as you go past 7000RPM?

Just sharing and caring, bro.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thanks for the dyno results Dave.

I note you are now going to work towards getting the boost on sooner in the rev range but what are your plans regarding the top end of the rev range?

One of the things I love about driving the 8 is revving it to 9000 when driving hard and just enjoying that rotary wail. I appreciate you can't just keep building power all the way up the range but at the least I'd like to see a flatter top power curve, without the sudden dip. Do you intend to work towards that as well?
