It's been discussed many times over.
I myself was a PS fan, and planned on getting the PS3.

Basically it came down to a simple decision.
Do I want to play PS3 alone?
Or do I want to play xbox360 w/ a community that kicks PS3 butt?
Plus, all my friends were already on xbox.
Yes, it true, there is a PS3 community, but it's nowhere near the xbox online community.

The games are a matter a personal taste.
One of my favorite games is Grand Theft Auto, and from the looks of things, the first xbox version of game due next year will be the best version on any platform.
And, because the online community on xbox is so big, companies spend a lot of time/money creating downloadable content for xbox games.
So even after you finish the game you bought, you can get more stuff for it and play new levels.

Look at the brightside though, if you get a PS3, you can play w/ Jedi.

just get both consoles... most hardcore gamers i know own multiple consoles. so, why limit yourself to just ONE console? you'll need a PC to play StarCraft 2 anyways...

360 + ps3 + pc = gaming bliss

well, it just seems that u guys are bickering over something that isn't absolute. u can certainly afford to buy & own all 3 platforms (4 if u want the wii also) and play games on all of them. for the amount of money u guys typically spend on mods- c'mon- be honest- this is pocket change in comparison, right?

until they can make the gaming experience for RTS games on consoles identical if not better than the PC, i dunno that i can give up one for the other. i see the console as being more of group entertainment when friends come over- since multiple ppl can play. and, PC gaming is more for individual gameplay for games like warcraft & starcraft. and, i absolutely love warcraft and starcraft. so, there's no question i will spend the money on that. if lucas arts gets their **** together and releases Jedi Knight 5, then i will probably disappear from humanity for a while. but, that's just me.

...and you know what you forgot......Achievements

Truely, think about how Achievements have restructured platform gaming....I find myself evaluating games now, not only on enjoyment of game play, but also the structure of the achievements. Often, achievements structure in several additional ways to increase game play in one particular title. It also creates some way of assessing your skills at a certain game.

Take the new Guitar Hero 3 game.....there is an achievement for earning 20 perfects on Expert level. Heck, I can't even pass certain songs at thsi point....I can forget about even trying to earn that one.

Other games hand out achievements like they mean nothing....earning all 1000 after completing the game once....while others just get rediculous and repetitive...."beat on easy level", "beat on medium level"..."beat on etc.....ect."

stepping off soap box because I lost my train of thought...oh well.

hahahahahaha... i forgot about u married folks.

npr did a report on gaming addiction a while back. and, it was really, REALLY sad. they interviewed this guy who got so addicted to world of warcraft that he couldn't stop playing. he lost his 6-figure income job, lost his car, lost his house, lost his dog, and lost his marriage when his wife divorced him and got custody of both kids. it was SO sad listening to him talk. u couldn't help but feel sorry for him but also feel like- HOW could u be so dumb to let this happen?

but, then the host interviewed some psychologist/ psychiatrists and social workers who have experience treating "gaming addiction." and, they said that the challenge/ reward design of these types of games is what gets people addicted. the basic fact is that unfortunately, some ppl are more easily susceptible to getting sucked into and cannot discipline themselves to stop. and, the game designers know this- which is how they get their monthly subscription fees.

so, the moral of the story is... obsessing over achievements is NOT a good thing! just have a good time when u play and know when to push that Power Off button.

You're absolutely right. Just last night I was bitching about the price of the PS3 yet I somehow managed to spend over $1,000 on mods for my car last month.

COD4 is released next week........got to experience a theatrical trailor for the game last night in a preview before SAW 4. The game looks incredible....SAW 4 on the other hand...was quite a disspointment. I guess it was still better than sitting at home having to give out candy to kids.

I guess it's up to you, and how much the copies are worth to you.
I find that if I shrink a movie to fit on a DVD, I can remove extra features, and extra languages, and I don't lose that much in the quality. It's actually hard to tell it's even a copy, and most people wouldn't know by watching the screen.

But yes, Nero should copy DL -> DL if you insert the correct blank media.
i'm going to do the DL thing, and i will only buy like a small 5 pack or something.

i need to figure that compressing thing anyways again, but i'm pressed for time on this particular one i'm doing. it's for my aunt who's leaving tomorrow, and right now i don't have the time to figure it out for her since i'm working full time and going to school full time.

KWescott and I both have the PIE adapter. Basically a converter box that plugs into the stock 16 pin aux output in the back of the stereo. You can then buy a chord for whatever mp3 player you have (we have ipod). http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445

It works fine quality-wise and we haven't had any problems. You can't control the ipod through your stereo and "EX 1" blinks on the stereo read out which kind of sucks. I think KWescott wrote a DYI maybe? yes? anyone? I can't remember.

Just giving you a hard time Loren. I am on an artificial high because its Friday and I only have to put up with these sugar-induced/sleep-deprived kids for 5 more hours!

Negatives

+ Requires a wired Xbox 360 controller for the device to be detected and programmed
+ No on-board headset support, however could be plugged into a wired controller, the wired controller still works as well as mouse and keyboard if plugged in
+ It may be a great adapter, but the price tag of approximately $80 is a little steep
+ Potential hardware compatibility issues
+ WASD movement setting not programmable
+ A creamy white shell colouring would’ve complimented the Xbox 360 better
