The red one form the first movie, I heard that was a auto because Vin Dieseal didnt know how to drive a manual? what kind of numbers did it put down?
the plastic is scuffed/ gouged. it's the black plastic area that is exposed when you open the door- just parallel/ over the metal "rx-8 logo plate" parallel to the door.
ok. i'll try to take a picture of it later and post it. thanks jorge/ keith

I haven't been able to look at the pics from the dyno day yet (because of my damn work browser setting)...but there should be two cars in the background. One, was a red FD on the ground, and the other was the Fast and Furious FD under a car cover, lifted well above the ground.

alot of those pix are posted on this site are posted by clicking on the "manage attachment" button. That means that those pix are saved onto this site's server. Because of that, if this thread does go down, so will those pix.

Transmission update
Well, hadn't heard anything from the dealership yesterday, and hadn't heard anything by lunch today, so i called to get an update. They didn't have one for me, but stated that they would call later with one. No call, so went down after work. My car was up on the lift, and they had the transmission out, along with a long laundery list of stuff that needed to be replaced.
Just parts, came out to something like 2300 bucks....I asked how much a brand new transmission would be, simple swap that way. New trans costs 3200.
They called my extended warranty plan provider, and they were unwilling to authorize the job, and will be flying out an inspector to check things out. I guess it is up to that one person whether my extended warranty plan will cover the damages, or whether Erica and I sit in the car for our honeymoon....

dang... so mazda would rather spend $1,840 flying him out here than just paying the claim? that doesn't seem like a wise decision, considering it's over 50% the cost of the new tranny already.
let's see, loosely estimated, let's say he flies coach $1,000 on airfare & airport taxes (from japan) + about $300 for the inspector's daily salary (2 days travel, 2 days inspecting) + $300 on his hotel + $240 on his meals/ per diems. and, that doesn't even include his hotel pay-per-view movies, strippers, and god-knows what else these guys try to expense when they take trips like this. man.
well, hang in there keith. i hope they give you some resolution soon.

ok, i pulled the car out for some pix. and, it didn't look as bad today as it did yesterday. the flash from the camera made it hard to get a good pix. but, here we go... any ideas what might smooth out the plastic that's been gouged? thanks

that doesnt look so bad detrich, at least you cant see it 95 percent of the time. should we do a mazda voodoo dance for the guy to approve the work? you should talk to the other guys who had their transmission replaced and see if they had to go through these hoops and possibly use them as reference.
Good luck everyone.
DAMN forum was down again and up and down, i dont think the big threads are going to to do diddly squat.

Hey Gerry, that scuff really doesn't look bad. My passenger side is super scuffed up by my friends and that piece is easily replaceable. (I think it just pops off) You can't polish the scuff plate since it's a "soft plastic". Anyways looks like you did a great job doing the final polish
did you check in the sunlight or with a halogen light if you got all the micro marring out of the hood with the final polish (since I went pretty agressive on the hood)? If the sonus paintwork cleanser or sfx-3 didn't take out the micro marring on the hood you can always go over it with sfx-1 restore.

no way they would fly someone for Japan for this. they will send someone from Mazda North America (right here in Sunny Sothern California... although I would think they would just drive)
sucks to hear Keith... what was their reasoning for the decission? you have a warrentee.....
you could always find a used tranny form a used engine/trans shop. I would guess around $400 for a trans with 15,000 miles on it. you olose the $1400, but save a crap load of money on the rest.

do we know for sure if he will toss this thread? I was hoping that since we "asked" he might let one slip?
