Then why the hell are you asking? Ask your friend. He had it all figured out apparently.

Yea coilovers are magical and just make wheels fit......

Ride height is important. Camber is important. I suspect he has a good amount of negative camber and/or never got an alignment after doing the suspension work.

fitment question

okay I have an actual question if anyone can help. I want to buy motegi MR125 18x9 +35mm offset all the way around. I was told by motegi directly that these wheels will not fit my car. it has no modifications that would effect wheel fitment. car is not lowered. I have 225/40 tires. i see many people on here running a similar setup with no problems... was i lied to?

They don't know what they are talking about. 225/40 is the wrong size anyway. Get 245/40 (I don't care what you have now) It will look better if you lower the car a bit. Doesn't have to be slammed.

im less worried about tires. im getting new tires when i get new wheels. I don't want to order wheels online and not have them fit. Why would they say 18x9 +35 wouldn't fit?

Because they haven't actually measured. They just go off of stock wheel measurements I guess

Ok two options here.

First my suspension: Tanabe Sustec Pro 5 coils. Dropped all the way down. 2.0" F 2.25"R

Goal. Flush stance with performance and limited stretching and or shaving. Willing to raise ride height slightly if needed. Will help save shine auto bumper anyway.

Wheels I am considering:

XXR 530s
18x8.25 +35 on all 4s
245/40s all around
Maybe 5 or 10mm spacers for proper stance

XXR 522s
18x9.5 +38 all 4s
245/40 F
275/35 R

Are my sizes correct and tire heights correct?

Thanks.

Two questions....

Why would you want to run spacers?

Why staggerred tires....if you are running the same wheels on all 4 corners whats the point??

The second set of wheels should fit with 275/35/18's all around...and then you can rotate them properly

Only asked about staggered tires for stretching. As I mentioned I am dropped 2" in front. Just didn't know if it was necessary to run that way to avoid rubbing. I'd much rather run same all around.

Spacers only cause I hate the sunken wheel look and the 530s only come 8.25 +35 or 9.75+20 which obviously won't fit.

Just lookin for best option advice.

Currently have 18x8.5 +40 on now with 245/40s and plenty of room to go out more.

Actually they are now on my kids 05' 3 hatch and are flush as hell. Look great.

18x9.75s. 245/40R18s. S-techs at the moment. Fenders rolled, tabs "adjusted", and about 1.6 degrees of camber front and rear. Not sure if you would need any more work if lower but I have heavily weighed down the suspension to check and don't hit anything.

How did you adjust those tabs. I just picked up my 530s and need to roll and adjust stuff. 9.75s tho I'm trying to stay away from spacers

Did you go with the +20 offset?

Yeah they are the +20. My bumper mounting tabs are bent upward with the corners and part of the rear plastic that covers it cut off.

Yikes... Tein web site says s techs only 1.4" in the front and 0.7" in the rear and you still had to roll fenders. My coils are much lower than that.

Ugh!

That's way past having to roll fenders. I had to completely remove the rear fender tabs with a less aggressive offset

What sort of work would the 8.75's require in a +20 offset? Im thinking about the following set ups:

XXR 530's in 18x8.75 +20 offset with a 245/40/18, Lowered on S-techs.
Or
XXR 530's in 17x9.75 +25 offset with a (unsure of proper tire size, 245/40/17?), suspension the same.

Fender rolling I'm ok with, dont want to do shaving/pulling though.

the 9.75s come in +20 and the 8.75s come in +15. I'm don't know how much you'd have to do to your fenders. I'm a newb but I searched for the 9.75s in a better offset and I couldn't find jack. Hope this helps a little
