once again i dont see why everyone is so anti rolling fenders. the front fenders roll really easy... and look normal afterwards.

^How are you going to tell him it will fit without what knowing what size tire he wants to run eh? What if Cam plans on running a 295...will that fit, No sir it will not.

Cam, If you run 275 all around, and are lowered significantly you will need a good amount of negative camber to not rub. I'm on 18x9.5 +45 with 275/35 all around. With -1.8 degree camber up front and -2.0 degree camber in the rear. If i pushed the top of the wheel 10mm out, I would have rubbing issues. If you plan to run a 265 all around, you will be fine.

 

It wont fit.. wont even be close.

I run the same size rim with my widdest tires being my NT-05s at 255/40, and also run 245/45s on my Kumho XS and NT-01s.

With the 245/45 it rubbed, a lot. Oh and that was on stock ride height. On top of that, stock suspension is WAY too soft, coilovers are a must. You'll rub with springs on every turn/bump you make, again, this is even on stock ride height and 245s instead of 275s, even if you ran a +30 offset you'd have issues. (Not to mention it will look like a monster truck)

It took a decent amount of work to get it to fit at stock height. To get it to fit at the amount I have the car lowered made for even more of a headache. But to answer your question, there's nothing you can do to make that size tire fit on that wheel at any ride height with any suspension at even the cars most negative degrees of camber (rendering your car aesthetically ugly and performance wise, useless) unless you are going to run with no fenders on your car.

There is ALWAYS a such thing as too much rubber.

 

Hi guys, need help again!

I'm looking into a staggered setup (yes, I know) but just curious about a 19x10 30mm offset in the rear. Is it more a tire concern with hitting the fender, and could I get a tire that could accomodate this setup? Or is it just too much?

 

^You would need a very small tire, lots of negative camber, and most likely still a roll to get it to fit.

So, for the sake of learning something let me ask you this. What determines how far out a wheel will sit, the width or the offset? If I had a 8.5 wide wheel with a 30mm offset would I have the same problem?

 

It's actually a combination of both wheel width and offset

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting face of the hub

Wheel width is the total width

So if you have a +50 offset it is 50mm out from center......so take half the width of the wheel and add the offset..that gives you the outer rim position of the wheel when mounted.

^You can get the 19x8.5 +42 and run some 245/40/19s all around and you will have no problems with rubbing at all.

9.5" wheel.... +36 ISH Have to watch tires...265/275 will rub with +35 offset 255 should be OK
10" +40 ISH
10.5" +43 ISH

Doesn't matter about the rim diameter ie 18 or 19" as long as the total diameter stays the same

IE..18" wheels use 35 profile tires and 19" use 30's as a generality

You have LOTS of options.. You could fit a 10" wheel if the offset was deep enough. At least give us an idea of what "look" you were going for?

 

I see. So by my numbers if I had a 10" wide rim..

5" is 127mm + 30mm (offset) gives 157mm.

With a 8.5" wide rim and 33mm offset,

4.25" is 107.95mm + 33mm gives 140.95mm

So with a 16mm difference in distance I should be concerned about fitment with a 19x8.5 (33mm) as well? Or is that enough with the right tire?

Well since the only offset that the 19x10 RP03 comes in is a +22, i'm pretty sure he does not want that if he doesn't want to run into fender problems... So really he has 2 choices...19x8.5 +42, or 19x9.5 +42. The 19x9 only comes in a +18 offset which would need fender rolling...

 

19x8.5 +30 will fit with no problem running a 245 tire.

 

i was at my friends job today and we found some 265/40/18 for my stockies and they fit perfect with no rubbing at all i cant believe how much better its gripping now plus they poke out just a smidge too

 

which one would you suggest
8.5" width or 9.5" width?

 

^you haven't specified what you're aiming for. Flush or Tucked? 8.5" w/245/40's will give you a nice look, but it'll be slightly tucked.

 

^9.5 will look better, and will able to fit a bigger tire on it, so you will have more grip. But wider tires are more expensive, and the 9.5" wheel is also a bit more expensive. You will be happy with either, just depends on what you want out of the wheel/tire.

 

Looking at 17" for autox. Suggestions on wheel width and offset?

I will be running 255/40/17.

Will an 8.5" be enough or should I go to 9.0"? What would be the right offset for 8.5" or 9.0" so I'm not rubbing in hard cornering or over bumps?

 

9" with about a 37-40 offset would be sweet.

Might want to check the rims before you buy them....a lot of 17" wheels won't fit over the front brakes....
