Calling all WORK wheel owners
Ok. What tire profile are you going to go with 40 or 35?
Im running a 35 and was on s-techs and the drop wasn't low enough for my taste. That led me to go with coilovers. The S-tech fender gap was to large for my liking with the 35mm profile tire... Think about it

That's not how tire sizing works. The second number represents the percentage of the width that the sidewall is. 255/35 is not as tall as 265/35 for example.

First off I said that a 255 will look a "little" stretched... And it does take a look a Dan's blue 8 with the kai's (255/35) then take a look at my car (265/35). Even he stated wished he when with a wider profile. Kuro's car is another good example, that car is running a 255 as well with a 40 sidewall and the tire looks a little stretched. Kuro stated they wanted a meatier sidewall look which looks good.
Every tire manufacture may differ slightly in the actual size of each tire they offer. From a 255/35 to a 265/35 265 sidewall wall difference were talk "Only" a couple MM difference at most (very small variables here).
So to the OP go with a 265/35 or a 255/40 period. Everything depends on your drop. I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Maybe they have tires on the thinner end of the scale? A 255 on a 9.5 is pretty close to a 225 on an 8 which is stock. FWIW, I wouldn't recommend 265/40 for this situation as it will cause rubbing on the front fenderliner since it is taller than stock.

I have 75 pounds of audio equipment in the trunk and will be dropped on tein s techs.
cd-kais 9.5 all around +38
I think I would be safe with a 265/35 with a slight fender roll but Im kinda thinking about playing it safe with the 255
On another note ... You look jacked in your signature pico, espeically in the wheelchair. Mad props for that, thats really inspiring.

^ If your looking to play it safe go with the 255/35 -- this will give to the look your looking for and will not be problematic with rubbing. With the 75lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk I'm not sure if being lowered on S-techs will cause you to do a fender roll, it was probably be pretty close with a full load of people in the car. I'm running 265/35 and the tire and rim are completely flushed.

I'm running S-Tech's with my CR-Kai's right now and I love them. Only thing really is the rear sits up just a TAD too high with stock shocks. You have to get the Koni Yellows or another equivalent shock to get it to sit correctly. I'm currently looking at doing this.
Front's are perfect however.

Struts can and do have different perch heights. Example: My stock 40th Bilstein struts have a different perch height then the bilstein HD struts. Glad I went with the Stance GR's
I will be ordering a set of Emotion 11R's on Monday, but I'd just like to confirm that a 18x9.5 +38 with a 255/35/18 tire will not rub? I know the tire will look slightly stretched but I like the look of the 255 on a 9.5 wheel over the look of a 265 - just personal preference.
The other part is I can't decide what colour to get them in. My track wheels are black 17" RPF1's (custom painted) and needless to say they look bad@ss on a white 8. After looking at the glim silver colour on Pico's car, I am really considering going that route as I already have an aggressive looking black-wheel setup.

Kuro, thanks for the pics. I am going to go with the glim silver! Having the black wheels for autocross/lapping events should satisfy my need for an aggressive appearance. Will be ordering them tomorrow from a local shop!

Turns out its not an easy wheel to come by. Tried 3 places, all say its out of stock
Back to the drawing board I guess. I'd go with the CR Kai's but unfortunately there's already a white 8 with cr kai's on it in the TO area!! Grrr
