Anyone Using the RacingBrake 4 piston calipers?

I'd be interested in knowing how other people go about compressing the pistons. The best method I've found is to use a hefty c-clamp and an old brake pad, and to alternate sides repeatedly. But it seems to take more time and require a lot more force than it should. The rears are a total breeze in comparison.

Any specialized tools out there to make it easier? I have a Lisle Dual piston compressor, but its worthless with the RB caliper.

Thanks for any thoughts.

There are several write-ups on here and the RB site forum, try using the search function

I actually did search quite a bit before posting this, in part because I was hoping to avoid a knee-jerk "why don't you search" response. I went to the RB forum first. A search turned up nothing specific to my question. I went one by one through the archive thread topics (it's not a particularly big forum) and still saw nothing pertinent. I posted this question there but it never actually appeared on the forum, probably because a moderator never got around to looking at and clearing it.

I searched here, and found posts otherwise related to these calipers (such as your install DIY), but nothing specific to compression of the pistons on these particular calipers. I found many posts related to compressing the piston on the stocks, which incidentally have never given me any trouble whatsoever.

I searched Subaru, Nissan and Infiniti forums, YouTube and plain old Google. Nothing specific to this issue and this particular caliper.

I readily admit that I may have missed something. But I have tried to do my due diligence before posting here, and if you know of a post that I missed, I would appreciate a link. Likewise, if you have knowledge to share on the topic, I would be appreciative of a few lines.

There are special tools that insert between the brake pads and push both sides in at the same time

They should be compressible by hand...

If you remove the brake line they can be easily compressed one at a time with a C clamp or such as well...

+1

Also, take the cap off the MS tank and you don't need to disconnect the brake line...

Thanks, all. I just ordered one of these. Hopefully it'll make things go more quickly.

Yeah, I do that routinely. I was actually wondering if opening a bleeder would be worthwhile, but I swap them often enough that I really didn't want to have to mess with that every single time.
