Smile Brake pad thickness!

I bought "Posi Quiet" ceramic brake pads. (fits RX8)

links here : POSIQUIET - Centric Parts

Yesterday, when I was replacing new pads,

I couldn't close caliper !!!

So, I will grinding pads thickness likes OEM pads.

But I don't know OEM pads thickness

Anyone knows OEM pads thickness? (Front and Rear)

Edit* My pads are 16.5mm(Front) 14mm(Rear)

Are your calipers fully open, e.g. with pistons completely compressed?

I don't know how compress front caliper's pistons.
Rear caliper's piston which has winding holes so that can compress.
But, front are doesn't have.(hollow piston)
How can I compress front piston?

They press straight in. Use an old pad for a shim. You can use channel lock pliers, a C-clamp, or a cheap brake tool.

You can also put the whole assembly back on and use a screwdriver or pry bar.

You should not have to grind on pads.
The rears screw in, and have notches that align with a tab on the pads for the parking brake to work.
Edit* The rears can be screwed in with pliers, but it's easier to use the proper tool.
Many auto parts stores rent them for free with a deposit.

Note the tabs on the round adapters that fit in the caliper recesses.

I use a large C clamp on the front, sometimes with a piece of 1x4 if I remember.

I made a tool about 30 years ago from an old brake pad, muffler clamp saddle, and bolt & nut.
Still use it.

I never reuse pads, so I just use the old brake pad as a brace for the clamp.
