hooked up a vacuum line to the service port on the lower intake. Blew smoke into the intake and coudl nto see the smoke coming out of anywere. i verifed the smoke make it all the way into the intake by removing another vacuum line. Smoke came out there. hooked it back up tried again and nothing... still need to try the carb cleaner trick

The leak may not be big enough to affect it with the lower pressure differentials you can get with the motor off.

Short of plugging the tailpipes and pumping it up to 5-10 psi, running it is the easiest.

i will do what i can for searchign for a vacuum leak. i really have looked many times for hoses that are loose or off or anything like that. cant seem to find anything.

I have an offer from Steve K to remote access my laptop and take care of the microtech for me, but if its a hard issue such as a vacumme leak then i dont want to waste his time.

Yes, i have ran the car off of this map before. We also had this same issue with the stock computer in, remember.

ok, i will check out the car again for any vacuum issues i can find and i will see if i cant find a service manual with some procedures to follow for some trouble shooting. thanks fellas. any hints or tips on finding a leak, let me know
The electrical connections to the solenoids can be switched easily.

what about the blue hard line connecting next to the fuel line, is that on properly?

When we got talking about switching the lines i double checked the electrical connections. In order from bottom to top on the intake its black white blue which should be correct to my knowledge.

what exactly do you mean by "check". the lines were never taken off the OMP when it was removed from the motor for the rebuild. when the OMP was put back on the motor durring reassembly i did check to see if htey were cracked or pinched .. all looked good to my knowledge

Talked to Steve Kan last night. Tomorrow we are goin to setup our laptops so he can remote access mine from TX. Then i can pop start it and he can see what he can do with the microtech to get it starting and idleing. Hopefully from there we can figure some stuff out and see where it leads.

Yup. the hardline goes from the firewall by the fuel line to the bottom of the upper intake. Its all snapped and clipped into place.

Dang. Yea I'm just going through the FSM checklist of possible causes. We've gone through most of them on this thread...

Blue white black, or black blue white. Top to bottom, Air pump SSV VDI.

This pic is from RR teardown thread.

Top to bottom i have blue white black just like the picture. i will check again to make sure when i get home but i have tripple checked those.

Oil pressure, the aftermarket gauge that i have is reading htat i have pressure when the car is running. It does how it always has done. pressure goes up with rpm. when at a lower rpm it sits around 20 psi and when up to about 4k rpm it is up to about 60ish or a little more. cant remember.

I'll need to check my connections to verify its either black blue white or blue white black. I re read what you said. I read top to bottom in both posts, mild dyslexia kicking in

Dang, I was hoping it was something easy like that. OMP might have gone bad but I doubt it.

I am finding this really odd that its somthing not installed right. Once we got the injectors flipped and hooked up right i figured we were good to go. I think Steve is thinking its a tune issue but it ran off this tune before the motor went. So in my mind it should run off hte same tune or even the stock ecu when it was installed. However i think he is still goin to look at the tune and see whats what.

Could it be something wiht the APV? not sure what or how it preforms, they cam eout with the lower intake manifold when i removed it and did nothing to them but clean them and apply oil to them before installation as the manual shows.

Thats about all you need to do. I disassembled the whole unit and cleaned all of it down to the last carbon deposit.

Im really leaning towards a vacuum issue.

If you can get up close pics of the UIM and LIM and all connections that would be awesome.

Hahaha. I feel ya! after rebuilding it the whole thing made more sense.

If you got the time pics on and off would be helpful.

Also wondering if you have the vaccum line on the bottom of the LIM right above the headers connected.

my problem wiht the carb spray is getting a second person around to keep it running while i spray it. . . a second person i trust anyway. I will try and see if i can get a second person aroudn tonight. wont starting fluid do the same trick as carb spray?

Line of hte LIM you are refering to the one that comes out and is helt on to the LIM by two brackets. I have it coming up the motor and plumbs into the air intake on the turbo right after the air filter.

HA... goodluck finding anyone local around here. plus i live in a small town outside of a big city... so most of my friends are about half hour away. i will try and get it done tonight though. spray it down and see if i can find anything ... if not i will tear it apart and take pics. . . still dunno how it would be somthing obvious. seems like i have looked it over plenty of times.

Ya never know! Usually its the obvious we overlook as we are trying to find the more intricate details.

My dad went to school in Des Moines. I visited there once as a kid, for his reunion.
