Well the car started to overheat on a regular basis AGIAN. Went to the dealer, they talked to Mazda. Mazda gave the dealer some tests to do. It failed the tests.
Mazda said replace the radiator. New radiator was installed. Picked the car up. After about an hour of driving on 2 seperate trips the car overheats, idles real rough and low, and no A/C. Temp gauge would go between 1/2 and above 3/4 on the gauge. Then at an idle it would dip to about 600/650 and be real rough, shaking the car. Then it would swing up to 1100 and back down to 800.
I've just about had it. One person say's the wrong thing and it's attorney time.
I think we fall into the LEMON LAW catagory.

That is exactly the test they did.
They measured the temps of the radiator core at the inlet and outlet as compared to the thermostat housing (which is the best indicator of actual engine coolant temps).
There was a big discrepancy (which doesn't, in my book, mean the same thing as it seems to the Mazda tech line), so they said swap the radiator.
I'm not so sure the tech that actually did the swap properly bled the cooling system.

This dealer has some very good mechanics working in it. I don't have an issue with the dealership, as they are doing everything Mazda is telling them to do.
I'll say it again, Berge Mazda is excellent in the service and parts dept's.
So, I don't see a necessity in finding another dealer and going round and round with them.

Took a ride with the Tech and his Laptop today. He was checking coolant temps as I drove. And Cat temps, and all the other sensors.
All I can say is the oil metering pump don't do sheet on deceleration. On a scale from 0 to 32 it spent most of its time below 17 normal engine load,3000+ - rpm and during downshifting/decelerating, it would drop to 3. At the top of the rpm's for the shift. Under heavy load accelerating it would go to 22+.

MM, we get total fuel cut on decel?
Maybe the engineers were concerned about flooding the engine with oil since no combustion is taking place and the oil would have nowhere to go (no peripheral ports)?
Or maybe there was too much at the design stages

So the real solution is to never take your foot off the gas then!
I can see it now..."but officer if I decelerate my engine won't get any lubrication and cause my seals to blow!"

Is there an answer? or will the lack of oil during decell not be important?? Does the concept of "full gas full break" now become an accepted way to compensate? What about idle, is there enough oil at idle (premix or OMP) or is it in a decell mode and not oiling?.
I will go back thru the OMP posts to see if you've already answered this but this does have me concerned.

Phil from what I saw on the laptop its doing next to nothing at an idle. Anytime your foot is not flat on the floor your in the 3 to 12 range. Closer to 3. As I said the highest I saw under full accel was 22+. I believe it's all related to emmissions.
Less oil burning less pollutants.
By the way the car is still in the shop, has been since last week. Tuesday. It is still running to HOT.
Mazda is sending someone over to look at it.
