So no to a k&n intake? What makes another brand better? I've looked at the k&n Typhoon and found an Injen air intake on ebay for $300.
And please don't say search, I just want a few opinions from you guys that have installed an after market intake.

NO!!!!

For real though. Do your research on here man.

The stock box is about as good as it gets. If you must, AEM/Mazdaspeed, or Racing Beat Revi box and duct.

Research man, there are many threads on this subject. Many with dyno results as well.

Thanks for saying something other than "NO" or "SEARCH". Searching these forums can take forever to find pertinent information. I thought community forums were meant for communicating and asking questions anyway, not yelling at people to search. I have already done some research as you suggest, and I've found that there isn't much of a HP or MPG gain from an after market intake system, but I've seen so many pics of them installed and most people's sig say that they've installed one, so what gives? If there's no benefit why does every 8 enthusiast install one?

Because the cool sound of an intake can do wonders for the butt dyno. This forum is not here to spoon feed people the same info, over, over, and over. there is great info here already, you just have to search for it. If you do, and then you still have questions then we are glad to help usually. You would also not be smart to take other members recommendations without doing proper research.

A lot of it is because people like to tinker, some want even the slightest bit of performance they can get, some like the noise, some are mis-informed, and some just like having a long mod list.

The better ones can give a little big of a gain and see higher (still small) gains in conjunction with other mods and tuning.

I don't have one, I run the stock box becuase its the best. I have every single mod you can get for the car, or a variation of it and have only recently bought an AEM intake becuase it will work best for my turbo.

People like them cause they sound cool and have given up on any hopes of making the car fast.

In summary, I am the ****.

Great! I really appreciate all the input. I had done my research and that's why I was confused as to why people bothered with a new intake. Now I know. I'll be sticking with the stock box as well. Actually having a difficult time finding anything to mod other than appearance in interior lol

I thought the more air you can get in and out of the engine the more HP ?? I was told the rotary engine was just like a big air compressor in short by the mazda mech.

Mazda had the same problem. They modded everything they could before putting it into production, with some areas having to be detuned for concessions to consumers (4-stroke injection, ride height, final MSRP) or regulations (cat, ECU tune to save the cat)

So everything left is personal preference or really big dollar values.

WTF dude, on that site you can search by size. I have been beating myself up trying to find a suitable paper filter so I didn't have to got with a reusable.

These guys are the best of the best from what I can see, pretty much the only company that does actual R&D.

I am going to replace my AEM cone with one of there's.
