My point being simply if your are going to go with the Sohn, make certain your oil injectors are operating properly. There was one guy on here who removed his and they were clogged pretty good. Taking them out periodically for a cleaning should probably be routine maintenance every couple years. I don't think they are very easy to remove though? I have never tried.
Thanks for the info, I did little bit more reading and will bump up the dose from what he told me and just run a good premix, will have to get my hands on that amsoil saber. As for the injectors shouldn't those have been replaced with the engine?

Thanks to anyone else who chimed in

They are only replaced if you pay for them to be replaced. Otherwise it's all just swapped to the new engine.

hey guys. i hate to ask this question because i know its been answered numerous times. but im this is my last option. i did a tune up and filled the tank up last week. the tanks empty now and i think its time i add premix to this.
what premix am i suppose to use. i saw amsoil saber is good but i cant see it on the local autoshops.

any premix oil i can buy from local shops like autozone, oriellys and/or advanced? mytime is limited and dont have time to go through the 140 pages. plus im trying to get an answer now so i add the premix and fill up my tank for work tomorrow.

thanks and sorry for asking

I would (do) use any oil with an ISO-EGD rating, or the JASO FD equivalent.

Lowest smoke and highest lubricity.

Don't use boat motor TCW crap, I know it's cheap, but it's cheap for a reason....

No, not just any 2-stroke oil.

There are ones that are worse for your cat, ones that are largely ineffective, etc...

From my understanding I shouldn't? Very confused.
Marvel mystery oil sounds good but then they say not to use it for premix? I really need to buy stuff locally at the shop. Ill go there tomorrow and see but online the websites don't show anything.

What about Honda two-stroke oil...I was thinking, they make bikes and shouldn't they follow the same requirements? And oem Honda oil should be available at the dealer.

Please excuse me if I'm repeating same questions. I really can't get a straight answer

If you have been running this long without it, one more tank is not going to kill the car. PM me, and I will give you the phone number to an Amsoil dealer. He can ship to you, or if you have a warehouse in your area he can have it set up for will call in your area. I usually buy a 1 quart case (12 1 quart bottles). usually runs a little less than $100 including tax.

MMO is not really an oil, mainly a solvent. Any dirt bike place will have good JASO FD rated 2 strokes but you will pay out the *** for it. A case of Idemitsu rotary premix can be had for about $85.00 shipped. You can also hit up your local sporting goods stores and find cheap JASO rated 2 stroke from Mystic and the like for very cheap that will work just fine.

I use Idemitsu in my SOHN reservoir but I don't use it to premix my gas. I go thru it fast enough as it is due to my increased OMP rates.

You won't feel a difference. All the smoother idle, etc. is just BS. It will take time for the engine to benefit from doing this and depending on your mileage and the existing carbon build up it may be pointless.

There's a reason there are over 3600 posts on this topic. Nobody agrees, eh? Kind of pointless to wander into that mess and ask for the REAL ANSWER.

My opinion, use 1/2 oz MMO per gallon of gas to supplement the OMP and help with cleaning. It's a mix of light oil and solvent. Perfect. Remeber you're not driving a motorcycle or 2-stroke boat. You are *supplementing* the OMP. The supplement doesn't have to be an ideal 2-stroke oil. Rather, it should complement the oil that's already being used. In that light, a light lubricating solvent seems ideal to me, but I'm nuts.

MMO is available anywhere. Easy. Don't worry, be happy.

Perfect?

You should mix MMO in a quart of gas, shake it up, let it sit, and then take a look at it. Putting a miniscule amount of MMO in your gas tank is pointless. Actually putting any amount of MMO in your gas is pointless.

In summary:
I think some things should be clarified, after several PM's between me and STEALTH and doing some online research on TCW-3. It is definitely designed to be burnt and fully combust without leaving any residue or ash (if it is a synthetic ashless oil). It is made WITHOUT any metallic additives, as it is meant to burn ashless it does not contain any.

While it probably wouldn't do any harm to the car (besides the catalyst), the problem with TCW-3 lies within it's lubricating capabilities. It is not as good as an oil at lubricating as a ISO or JASO FC certified oil is. TCW-3 is an oil that is not good enough to lubricate snowmobiles and motorcycle engines, and has lead to failure to those engines that TCW-3 oils were used in. Not because the oil itself caused the failure, it just didn't serve it's purpose in lubricating the bearings and engine parts that needed lubricity, hence the failure.

So what I'm trying to get at is... TCW-3 oils suck as a lubricating oil. A JASO FC and ISO oil would do a much better job. TCW-3 premix is not the worst thing you can put in the car though, it shouldn't harm it, and it should lubricate some what, but it just isn't the best lubricant we would want for our engine; we would want to get the best we could in there. I just wanted to clarify this and explain some of these details, so that people using TCW-3 as premix don't get scared and think that they have potentially harmed their engine by using a oil with metallic particles (not true) that isn't meant to combust in their car (not true as well).

If you were using TCW-3 oils as I was, you should definitely switch to something else like idemitsu or any other 2-cycle oil JASO FC or ISO rated. This is one long assss thread, and reading through it is a pain, but if one does so you would find how contradicting a lot of the information is. I just wanted to make it easier for some people, and so that others don't make the same mistake I and many others have made.

It's found in the mower and lawn equipment aisle.

I've done this. I used MMO/gasoline mix in our weed eater until I finally replaced it with an electric one. Not sure what I should have been looking for. The gas turns pink.

The darkness of 2-stroke oils is from a dye, it's not an inherent property of the oil.

Adding 8oz of MMO to 14.5+ gallons of gasoline is pointless IMO. MMO = 80% mineral oil and 20% mineral spirits.

Most if it was copied off the forum including this which is incorrect

(interestingly enough, it is a throttle position sensor from the KL series of motors used in the MX6/MX-3/626/929/Millennia)

It's a switch very specific to the OMP manufactuer; Mikuni

If you want to see some good OMP research info then search for posts by forum member 'Delmeister'
