hold the DSC button down from approximately 7 seconds until a yellowish light illuminates in the middle of your Tacho. That will let you know tractional control is off and you're good to go.

There's a bit about it on the racing beat website in their ecu reflash section.

Basically it's a fuse at the bottom of your fuse box by your driver door that resets your Long Term Fuel Trim to 0.0 when you pull it and leave it out for 10 seconds or so. It's kinda like resetting your PCM or pulling your battery cable. Your car runs leaner until the PCM starts learning what your AFRs are and starts adding fuel.

Just got back from the dyno, it was a mustang dyno, I made 161.83 hp and 129.45 lbft. My car was running extremely rich and I am not sure why, the guy said i may have some bad plugs, I have some racing beat plugs that I havent put on yet but I hope they help because that was weak. All I can say is I am 100% getting a turbo within the next month.

^^check your ignition coils as well. If you have the older coils they may need to be replaced with the newer ones. They're about $30 per coil and easy to swap. Also there's a TSB on them if you still are in warranty.

Well today I had Sublime take care of some stuff under the car, & adjust the ride height.

Anyways, after that, we put the RX on the dyno & ran her. She didnt do as well as I was hoping, but still did alright I guess. Ran just shy of 180 whp & 130 ft lbs. Only modifications are listed in my signature. Didnt replace the cat w/ the supplied midpipe.. (Car weighed in at 3,000 even, fyi. Time for diet!!)

The guy at the show mentioned it was running a bit rich in the middle of the run. (Searching for info on that)

Thanks.

^+1 very respectable and normal on a Mustang dyno. Looks like you're in the regular ballpark.

He was getting suspension adjustments done so perhaps they corner balanced his car?

Your right Team, thanks (again) but I KNOW I need to research. I just need the time to search & to find the right article, so I was just simply stating that I still need to figure things out.

No, they didn't do a corner balance.

stupid question .. how much drivetrain losses and flywheel losses are normal at the RX-8 ? I just ask this stupid question, because in europe, the horsepower are measured to the flywheel not to the rear wheel (which are the more important one i think).

Hey guys,

I have my first and only dyno sheet from about March...

This was done on Performance Solutions Dyno Jet in Phoenix. Results were slightly less than expected as the other 2 stock MT RX8's were pulling between 170 - 180 HP. I think I might have lost HP due to some mods.

Mods at the time were K&N Typhoon II intake, B&B mid-pipe, Espelir Cat-back exhaust as power adders. I also had the current factory flash.

Ok ... so when the RX-8 gives out 190 hp at the wheel everything will be ok with the car and its engine. But .. is there a possibility to reduce drivetrain losses (i think not much, but hope dies last)

Greetings
EdFred

I run synthetic tranny and diff fluid, which should help the losses somewhat, but there is always going to be at least a 10-12% drivetrain loss in any car.

There will alays be loss like brillo says, but there are ways to free what you have up.. Stuff like lightweight flywheel, underdrive pulley. If you have pbig bucks, a light weight drive shaft would probably work nicely..

The rx-8 comes with a carbon fiber drive shaft.

Standard car had about 200hp ECE95 (SAE equivalent) @ the crank.....as usual here in Europe.
100 octane? no fair.

Oh Here are my actual 4 dyno pulls from the same session as Kristopher_d's that I posted earlier in this thread. Note these are corrected for temp and pressure to SAE standard from the actual environment. It actually dyno'd slightly higher due to cooler air temp.

And AFRs
