You are defiantly correct, the m/t guys are Mustang lovers and wannabe owners, pay attention when they are talking about their m/t the Mustang always enters into the conversation .

aww phil, I stated my reasons very clear, I can careless if my car produces less horsepower than right now if I go MT, I'm just having one of those episodes where I constantly keep hitting the brake pedal every time I try to shift........just an episode, I ma go estimate on the drive shaft and the dash and other goodies, if it comes out more than 2k.......then I will use that 2k and buy myself a turbo and call it a day......

thank you all for your opinions and evalutaions and help, I have made my decision......I'm keeping my Automatic transmission RX-8, and I will be dumping 3-4k on doing some custom work on the transmission which when I do it, I will post pics

my deal is this...saying 'the AT was a mistake' is pure ignorance if you don't know the person...PERIOD...i know the OP...n' im pretty sure he doesn't know you...so who are you to say he made a mistake? the kid is curious about a mod that's never been done before n' just because he wants to try it - suddenly he gets flammed for it? most of you MT guys are soooo quick to bash whatever the hell an AT guy wants to try instead of actually offering some useful info...some of you guys post more garbage on here than actual help - i feel if you're an actual tuner or mechanic - then maybe some of you could actually offer some help - i myself want to upgrade my 8 more than most - but some of you tools are too busy thinking inside a box that it seems that all some of you ever do on here is fall in line behind each other...tell me thats not the truth and i'll show you the biggest liar on this forum...

lol, I have 4 rotors 4 brake pads and 2 sets of pulleys in the back of my car..........
I need to get these installed first.........then I will be doing some more mods.........thankgod for tax returns.......I might be able to go FI next year.........

I would not say "they" hate a/ts but some would like to see us go away. That's one reason that some sympathetic moderators started the a/t forum threads. "They" are a small group but tend to be large posters and have some influence and feel that we are not "purists". We all purchased the a/t for different reasons, finance, wife, knowledge or like me just being lazy. If we use the forum that was given to us and stand together we will win.

What I said was, at least IMO, its a total waste of money to do an AT to MT swap. it just does not make any logical sense.

and why would he want to swap to MT ? dont tell me its for fun. let me tell you. its for *performance* reasons.

Why not stick with AT then ? cuz down the road AT will still be slower than MT.

got the idea ? u need to take a chill pill.

it has been moved so Im just gonna leave it as is. Have fun with the project, at the end just dont regret anything.

Its good to try. but if you have 3-4 k to spare, trade in should be the choice

but ahh, most of the time emotions override logics.

it's whatever man - it's obvious we'll probably never see eye to eye with this any time soon...

ofcourse the tranny swap would be an upgrade...why else would he have considered it unless it either ran the car more efficiently or added horsepower - my stink isn't trying to convince anyone the AT is better in any way - my stink is that barely any of you will help! - lend a hand not a pitch fork -

btw - this is only my 2nd AT out of 8 cars...i know the differences between the two - had it not been for my more 'liberal' driving habits and endeavors with my previous platforms i would still be with an MT. my decision was based off of a realization and over-all pro's to con's. I'm not trying to race...and i'm not trying to beat someone from point to point - i have a traffic pusher in The Land Of Traffic that i'd like to add some more ***** to...that's all -

AT works for me fine, even tho all of my previous cars were mt exept for A6. For 11k I can take that **** that is coming to me because of of AT. I don't really care. At least I didn't pay 18k for same year and mileage.
