water/methanol injection

thanks for the reply. how many tanks of gas do you usually go through for those 2 months? also I assume that's street driving - on a track you would use quite a bit more, right? did you trunk mount your reservoir or did you use the windshield washer reservoir as double-duty?

i also mount it in the trunk, with the pump lower location from the tank. usually you will get a tank with in a kit
i don't use windshield washer, i used 50/50 mixture
is this any good? I plan to log both rotors egt

i am using AEM..i bought when the first kit they produce, and the nozzle size that they had before was 133, 250, and 400..something like that, and i sued the smallest one,,,the 250 choked my engine and gave me less HP..

yep--same thing happened to me---why did the power fall off like that? Did yall just back off the throttle.?
What psi where yall at --about 7-8?
here is mine--showing the same thing:
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1322317101
later on I found out that my ssv was NOT opening during this dyno. I was at 7-8psi of boost.
the blue line is with my w/m on and using only a 75 nozzle.

water injection is not going to add power... the idea is to reduce the risk of detonation and therefore allowing you to run higher boost or more timing, this is where the power will come.
if not tuning for it it can only be used as a safety net.
why bother with these back to back dynos if nothing is being changed tuning wise?

Was it pure methanol or a water/meth mix? Also what kind of ignition upgrades does the car have? Any EGT data for the runs?

mine was a 50/50 boost juice from Snow. I have the msd 8247 coils with denso 27/31 sparkplugs. No misfires. Basically I only use mine now for cleaning, track use. I do not relay on the system to help with octane. I use Torco accelerator for that.
The only way the w/m will allow for more power is it's ability to allow for more timing ( which the rotary really doesnt respond too that much--not like a recips) and/or more boost.
It was interesting that my a/f's did not chance at all. Not injecting enough--I guess.
We only did a back to back out of curiousity.

so why arent the people with water or water/meth injection trying higher boost levels?
turblown... are you saying that you are trying to tune with the water or water/meth?
have you tried turning boost up a little while it is running?
based on every other car in the world with a turbo you should be able to boost higher with the cooling and knock protection water offers.
i dont understand how you can say it losses power if you havnt tried high boosting it. ie something over 14 psi.
or are you saying that the water is not helping and you are still getting knocks so you have to leave the boost the same as before?

Lets wake up a old thread.
My knowledge is limited, but could it be beneficial to run a relatively high pressure pump to get smaller water particles? Could that be the problem, that the fog has too large particles?
It would be great if it was possible to make water injection work, possibly skipping intercooler. Friend of mine who turbocharged a bike, could use max 0.7Bar without water, but 1.3Bar with. Thats a big difference.

Great link, thanks!

I missed the quote above; a fellow engine builder/rotary specialist and I had this discussion a few years ago and he wondered why he encountered detonation as he added more and more alky injection to his non-intercooled/boosted system. The answer I gave him happens to also be found in the link 9KRPMs provided.
I haven't seen someone who have said/proven this wrong, have you? Maybe it has slipped my radar...

Hey guys, I'm a newbie. I'm thinking about running w/m in my nonaspirated 8. For a little boost in power, but mostly for the carbon removal. Is this a waste of time and money?
