no, for the cost, it's pretty good. It's a nice way to get 80+ whp addition on the car. I'm just fed up with the turbo bearings wearing out. If MM's turbo replacement works out, then my problems are resolved, and it's still within an affordable price range.

heh. Ultimately a $2000 investment got me a greddy kit that ran for 13k miles at over 270 whp before the turbo had to be rebuilt. It didn't have the oil restrictor in the entire time either, so that might have caused it to prematurely wear out. But as I said, I don't want to deal with having it rebuilt again if I can avoid it

Considering all the things that could have gone wrong (to even a stock car) in over a year's time, I'd say a worn out bearing isn't too big a deal in the overall scheme of things.

Was not expecting such a mellow response from you - must be all puckered out from the dogfight in the other thread ?
Anyway - I suppose you have a point . I must admit I was expecting you to have blown your motor as well by now like so many other Greddy owners . It seems you have done things right and got some good results from it so maybe I was wrong .....

Well, until the bearing started to go on the turbo, I would have said I had no issues at all. Now that it's gone, I'm hoping to get a turbo that I can be proud to have installed on my car 350 whp vroooooom!

Hi, I am also thinking about buying a turbo kit for my rx8 from a local. I was just wondering is it safe to put it on my car which has 40k miles on it?

I had over 50K miles when I put on my Type I. I now have over 60K miles without issue. Contrary to popular belief, I think these MSPs are built a little tougher than people seem to want to give them credit for.
