Clutch acting weird! HELP!!
so i was driving my rx8 this morning and everything was perfectly fine. After getting out of school, I was driving to work and I noticed that as I would take off, after putting it in gear, the car would take off but if I were to give it gas to take off quickly the rpms would go up and the car would move slowly. It was acting as if I was pressing on the clutch while in gear. So in order for me to get going I couldn't give it to much gas and would have to let the rpms adjust to my speed. Is it my clutch going out? I had recently put a new clutch pedal on it about a few months ago and thought that maybe the bolts were loose on it and made it not have enough clutch play but I checked it and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Break fluid seems to fine for the tranny. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

This is S2 Sub Forums...
Please post in correct Sub Forum, OP you own a 2005 which is a Series 1 RX-8.
Generally a new clutch 'petal', I presume you mean "Pedal" will not fix a worn out Clutch Plate/Pressure Plate and Thrust Bearing.
As L_H said your description is classic worn out clutch plate.
Doing burn outs and long mileage or age (at a guess) will shorten the life on any CP.
As you show no details of you car and location, I presume you are in US.
New Clutch would be roughly $900 depending on who does it and with what parts.

I actually have just recently hit 150000 miles! and yes 'ASH8' I understand a clutch 'petal' will not fix a worn out clutch plate. The only reason I had put a new clutch pedal was because the last one had worn out at the welding points.
One thing I did not understand though was that after letting the engine cool down yesterday, I took it for a drive later in the day and the car seemed to work fine. Then after I drove it for a good 15 minutes and let the engine warm up it starting reproducing the issue. I will have to see how it plays out today.
I also apologize for posting under the wrong sub forum. I am located in the united states within colorado just because ASH8 asked.

Interesting and sorry to jump on your coat tails. I have a 07 GT with 87k miles. I recently started having this problem. Sometimes when I start driving, it's like no power and then when I hit 3-4k RMP, it surges forward. I was thinking it's a misfire issue and never thought about the clutch plate. Could this be the issue? I don't get a Blinking CEL when it does it.

I'm gonna have to jump in here with my limited experience... you say that driving the car for a bit makes the clutch act up. well, could it be the master/slave cylinder acting up? The brake fluid in the clutch line does end up heating up when the car is driven.

Clutch is slipping... question is, is it because the clutch is worn out, or because the bite point is set wrong?
Is the pedal adjusted correctly?
Does the bite point get higher as it warms up? That might be due to air in the lines.

Basically, for me, if I don't take off in 1st gear at around 3k RPM, you would go faster pushing it. I could floor it and it would still just creep along until the RPM gradually got higher and then it would surge forward.
