NM Prep for turbo

I am going to boost my 04 rx8 and want to make sure the car is prepared
for about 5lbs. But i dont want to just throw a turbo kit on and have problems start occuring. I am looking for recomendations as far as keeping the engine safe and protected. What could i do to prepare the car? i am in albuquerque NM so its pretty hot here. btw the engine has about 300 miles on it. What oil would you guys recomend , new radiator? etc.

bhr or mazmart radiator. mazmart h2o pump and thermostat.

oil temp and h2o temp gauge. afr gauge.

i would say those are the basics at 5psi. with a turbo that has a known flow rate.

and most important is the proper tune.

beers

5psi you say . Don't really need a lot of extras at that boost level .

Fit an extra radiator and leave the stock one in place .
AFR guage
Free flow cat or no cat
go to 5w40 oil

That's about all i would do ....

i would ceramic powder coat the manifold, downpipe, and exhaust houseing. like i did!

cuts down on exhaust heat sinking into the engine block. a complany did all mine for less than $300

I am probably talking out of my *** here, but I was originally told by Mazda that going to a thicker oil was not a good idea due to clearances inside the engine. Am I the only one who has ever heard this? Am I crazy?

You mean reciprocating engine, not piston.

"A reciprocating engine, also often known as a piston engine..."

piston-type gasoline engine, happy?

I second the upgraded radiator and something to monitor water temps, and thicker oil at least.

I don't know, like I said that was just what Mazda originally told me back in '04. Probably just a stupid tech, they definitely have plenty of those floating around.
