Here is a photo of my setup. Its spliced into the coolant hose running from the tank. In the pic its near the bend in the hose near the air pump. You can prob spot the zip ties holding the sensor in the line.

Which thing are you wondering feels hot?
Your temp sensor is quite a bit closer to the intercooler than mine is.

I am wondering about the section directly after the compressor where the air charge is supposed to be cooled.

I have a low boost 6psi pulley and the belt I use is the Gatorback 4050325 5PK0825, I did have slipping issues but have put on a new belt and I have no slipping again.

I ended up going with a gates belt. I barely got it on, but still managed to put a little extra tension on it. It seems to be working well. All of my belts have worn out after a year or so regardless of brand so I'm sure this will do nicely.

I thought I would post a visual of my current engine bay in case anyone wanted to see it.

You can see my larger heat exchanger mounted in this picture.

I wonder how much it is for that kenne bell upgrade. I have been kicking around the idea of getting the supercharger tuned up/upgraded and too afraid to take it apart myself. Anyone have an idea how much?

Just had the rebuild done on the 1.7L after a couple stupid moves on my part, $749 shipped and it's ready to go again.

RX8inStL, that's a rather innovative strut tower support mod. I take it that's the MazdaSpeed bracket set (master brake cylinder brace evident), and either a custom aluminum bar, or another aftermarket strut brace like Ebay RX8 FRONT STRUT TOWER notched to clear the intercooler.

It is indeed a custom piece made using the MS strut bar. It is also used for holding my catch cans which is partially where the idea came from.

Where did you have your SC rebuilt at Striker?

The SC went home to Kenne Bell for rebuild, got it back a week after it arrived there.

I'll have to look at that bar again. You say it's holding the catch cans as well?

Thanks Striker! I was wondering and $750 is actually pretty reasonable considering the original cost of the kits. I really expected it to be far higher.

Whoa down there! The SC in my one-off package is a Kenne Bell / Autorotor design, the actual SC shipped with Pettit kits was a Lysholm. Looking at the lineage of twin-screw SCs, you would be wise to call Whipple Superchargers Remanufacturing Service to see if they can do the job. They were a Lysholm distributor at one time. Another site to check would be PSE Tech Lysholm Rebuild.

Man oh man, reading the things said in the Whipple / Bell supercharger saga makes some of the turbo threads here look like kindergarten squabbles.

Ack! Breaking my heart! lol

I thought I had read where several of our Pettit ones were getting rebuilt by Kenne Bell since Pettit decided to sell out all their replacement/maint parts as kits and kinda screwed us royally. My kit is fine now but I just like planning for down the road.

It's been a long time coming, with a couple of expensive bone-headed moves.

This evening, the car I call 'Zonk' went for an easy lap of the Easton bypass with a Pettit / Kenne Bell SC kit whirring away under the hood. It was barely hard enough to wipe the rust off the brake rotors, just a quick 15 minutes to check for fluid leaks, and a couple tickles on the loud pedal to see what might happen. No leaks, no clatter, just the usual "sewing machine" idle and a new whine.

There seems to be a bit of torque present. I kept it under 4K, since it is running a basic standard map with idle bumped to 950rpm.

Any SC drivers with a 2004 6-port MT; if you're running a Cobb open tune, please drop a line and / or a link to a conservative boosted map so I can study up on the changes. In the meantime, I'm off to find a wideband O2 / boost gage.

Upgraded pulley set

Hi everone,

I have produced an upgraded pulley set for Pettit Supercharger. All is from high quality Aluminium.

Main advantages are:

33% more contact area over standard set up due to being 6 rib over the standard 5 rib and due to the sizing ratios.

The new kit will peak at 11 PSI instead of 8 PSI like the standard kit.

Comes with a hardened steel shaft for the SC pulley which is prone to wear on the standard kit.

I would like to open up the opportunity of a one shot bulk purchase for the US market.

So the kit comprises of:

New SC faceplate and seal
SC pulley
One piece crank pulley
SC idler pulley
AC pulley idler (option)

MOD Edit : Pricing and advertising is not allowed on forum without being a vendor. If you would like to sell this when it is in production then contact us for info.

This is the protoype set, we are working on lightening this further so the new set will have slots drilled out to make as light as possible.

Bearings are press in and out so are replaceable, the SC idler bearing is held in via a circlip.

Madtaz good looking set there, I am interested. Would you want to PM me your pricing? I assume the the pulley on the SC is smaller now? Also what belt are you using with these pullies?

Tuning

So I blew my motor this past summer. I am getting a reman put in but have been debating about how to tune it. I got a hold of a EFI Dude logger and Cam says he still has maps he could send me. Right now the car is tuned for 11psi with 1000 secondaries on a Cobb by MM. Jeff never got it to idle as well as the original EFI Dude tune for 8 psi that was on the car when I got it. I want to dial back the boost to 8psi for longevity of the motor. So my question:

Anyone still running the EFI Dude tune? Was it a stock map or was it something that needed to be modified by Cam specific to your car? Anyone running the BHR ignition kit with a different dwell? Any issues?

I tried playing around with the EFI Dude software last nite. It looks kinda simple and buggy compared with the Accessport software. That being said, I swear the car felt better tuned when I first got it than its final Cobb tune. But it could just be my memory.

I am ordering this kit. I have been "speaking" with Ryan over FB and he can make me a 8psi pulley. Pretty stoked since I have been looking for a solution to the maddening belt slip issue I have been having for the past few years. He said he could prob do a 8psi, 11psi, or 13psi pulley.

Sounds like a pretty cool solution. Id like to up the boost to 11psi. Im only hitting 6psi currently. I am debating lately between staying with the SC and upgrading it more or just going with an REW swap.
