We were coming home on a rural HighWay late last night . It's in the middle of no where there are only 2 gas stations in 30 mile stretch. I had just put gas a few minutes prior. There was no other vehicle on the road and I really needed to get home and take a ****.
I think it was the blueberry coffee rolls I had at the party.

I don't have any problems with high-speed driving.
I just that too often, people do that while they are sharing the road.
There are a few sections between here and Vegas that I cruise pretty regularly at 135+, but I drop back to 90 or so when I have to pass another car.
What have you done to your suspension?
I find the RX-8's steering gets way too light above 130.

I do the same when there is traffic I slow back down to whatever the flow is until I can safely break away from the pack.
The suspension is stock for right now saving money for future mods. I am thinking of either the Tein or K sport coil overs.
I wasn't at that speed for too long. I just wanted to stretch her leggs a little. I did need to get home and unload.
I have 18X9.5 all the way around on 245s. That did help before your are correct after 130mph the car does tend to get light. Also the vented hood in my opinion has added some down force to the equation.

I almost die on a daily basis, its my agressive driving that keeps me alive, and my exhuast that probably alterts people when to keep the f**k out of my way.
anyway, I hope everyone gets the change to top out their car at least once. Its exhilarating.. Ive gone 165 in our BMW850, but the 8 at 152 was funner. I know our top speed is supposedly drag enforced, but has anyone with FI broken 155?

Take a look at post #923. I agree to an extent on the driving thing as I have driven commercial trucks and the way people wear blinders when driving is ridiculous. However, I have also discovered my gas pedal to be a better way of avoiding trouble than my brake pedal.

Check earliewr posts I posted a pic of my GPS when I topped out at 156mph. There is room for a little more but I don't have the suspension needed and I should add a different wing to add more down force.
Do you guys think the Mazda spped one would be good enough?
I don't want to have to get some big as ugly wing.

150 is not fast enough for a normal (not the MS, anyway) wing to produce any useful downforce.
Plus, its not the back end you want to stick.
You need to change the airflow under the car. A splitter (a real one that is bolted to the frame, not a fake, stick-on model) and a rear diffuser will do more for keeping down the float than the MS wing.

lolol I Since I tool the CAT out it has made driving better. Everyone hears me coming if they don't move and I rev the engine they get out quick.

I agree that the addition of the roll cage and a five point harness is a good idea, but the addition of the front splitter would offer enough high speed down force to make the car more stable at high speeds. The existing appearance package wing is just coming into being useful at 130mph and offers no real front end down force that is needed. We have so many engineers that post on the forum, one of them should be able to design a splitter to offer down force that will keep the 8 from becoming airborne at 150mph

funny I was just thinking the same thing----for the 1st time since my install, i went thru 4th and a little in 5th so i let up at around 130. 2 lane road.
After having the na version on the track many time---guess I have about 1.5k miles on the track with her--- I can say this. This changes everything.:0
Let me explain my opinion:
1-- before on the track this was basically a momentum car. This means that lines are taken to keep the momentum up and you focused on making up ground in braking zones and the corners. In the exit speed was high enough then you had a fair chance on the straightaways. The car was like a go kart in a way---very toss able and easy to recover. There was little lift throttle over steer, or full throttle under steer. Easy to drive through the corners. High speeds (over 115 or so) was stable and you felt connected.
Oh by the way I have a GT oem stock exterior --no appearance kit , no wing.
i have koni's (yellows) and tein h springs with RB rollbars and end links. I run stock brakes with carbotec xp8's. ss lines and the ms front brace with master cylinder brace Super blue fluid. I run 17x8 wheels with hoosiers 225/45/17.
Nothing really special but a good basic package.
2--well things have changed!! No longer a momentum car. More lift throttle understeer and a LOT more full throttle oversteer on exit. Things have to change but where do i begin?
When i was at high speed and still accelerating the car felt "light' and the steering was not as connected as before.l
Ok I have a fair amount of front end lift all the way thru 4th gear. This means my chassis is going to be going thru much more lift, dip and even yaw at certain times.. Now what do I do? Air kit? If I get a front lip/splitter i will also have to get a rear diffuser. And i really dont like that look. If I stiffen the suspension more the rear end is going to get even MORE tail happy.
i really hate to admit this but looks like I am going to have to speak with the vettes and Stangs crowds.
Back to square one as far as tracking!
Also it looks like I will lose my track cherry at one of the hardest tracks around Road Atlanta in March.
Suggestions?

Technically, a front splitter is a piece of cake.
Fitment on a street vehicle is going to be the issue.
If you just take the line of the lower accent on the MS bumper and extend it out in all directions about 2" you will have the piece. Except that it has to go all the way under the front of the car and be bolted solidly to the lower parts of the frame.
In CF, it would only need to be 3/8" thick. In aluminum, it could be done in 8 - 10 GA.
