I would hope 3.5, or even a little bigger, so you guys don't outrun the available MAF voltage.

already ran out of voltage?
I am looking into modifying the RB maf pipe and actually using the RB revi k/n filter. Leave out the Velocity stack. may as well --used REvi intakes are not selling now.

Uh, no. You didn't.
You are not producing 400+ HP with that blower.

If you are maxing out the MAF reading, its because of the 40% that the flash needs to add the to actual airflow reading to make up for the idle bleed.

Several conversations at the same time had me saying "voltage" when, as MM points out, I should have been saying "reading", as in grams/second. Good thing nobody counts on me for serious info around here.

OK can someone slow down ether give me a place to go look for what you talking about or explain please. Sounds like you are saying we are running out of current to the MAF.

We are discussing the concept of the airflow demands of the supercharger being more than the MAF sensor can measure. With the smaller intake pipe previously included in the Pettit kit this is more likely to happen. The converse is also true, to a point.

the point is that with this kit you should be no where near pegging th eMAF. i ffor someone is that means- to ME- that ther eis a problem.

I didnt understand previously that this kit includes a MAF tube that is smaller than stock diameter. What is the size of the tube that comes with it?

another thing i just read i need confirmation on before i continue.

no one should be pegging this maf before 400some hp

can someone please explain what "pegging the maf" means?

the only input i have here is that i will be getting a new MAF housing that is a little bigger than what came with the original kit...new housing and new filter..

Think of it this way; measuring the temperature of something that is hotter than the thermometer is calibrated to measure.

thanks ray...

so what youre saying is that if the housing is too big you wont be able to measure the MAF??

maf meters measure the amount of air coming into the engine. they have each have an upper limit they can read based on their design. when you reach that limit its called "pegging the meter". sort of like "pegging the needle" on the speedo or odo= its the limit to the reading it can give.

with a maf if you reach its limit then all of the air above that reaching the motor is going in unmeasured, the electronics dont see it, so not enough fuel is added , you run lean , knock, boom, new engine

the stock Maf in its original 3inch/76 mm housing is capable of measuring enough air to produce 400some hp.

going down in maf tube size while adding FI is never good. you can go up in size. peopel used to go up to 80mm very often but nowadays 90 mm (3.5 inches) is often used.

originally Pettit was running its system with a 3 " tube. this was when the INT x or other management systems had to be used. Basically bypassing the maf. Now that there is a flash out and the maf can be fully functional a oem size tube is supplied.
Do I have that correct?

hey OD....this is what i know....the housing that came with the blower (the one you and i have presently) is smalled than the new one thats being used with the flash......i am not sure of the exact measurements....
on my existing housing i have my MAF installed...something moon did for me after the fact when he was up here for rotorfest...i wanted to have my traction control..

moon tells me that the existing housings we have now will not work with the flash..

That makes sense Shinka - whenever you change the MAF housing you have to rescale the entire ECU - aka retune.

The sensor always reads from 1-5 volts; if your tube size is smaller - 5 volts comes sooner (IE with less airflow). As it gets larger; you will also lose granularity as each volt cahnge is a larger airflow value.
