So I won another cheese trophy, meh! First place overall Mazda. It is hard to compete amongst a boat load of ricers that think that a quick stop at their local Auto Zone cheap LED accessory aisle will get them (sometimes) a first place trophy. Nevertheless, the real hard part is trying to coach the competition judge on what to really look for on my car.
Basically it goes like this…no 20 speakers or 50 inch woofers or an amp the size of a fridge. No lambo doors, big *** decals or body graphics. No body kits that makes the car looks like is a spaceship or a park bench bolted to the trunk. No Game Stop store or Back to the Future or Weird Science on wheels. No 24 inch/100+ pounds bling-bling wheels.
Just a very clean and road race prep sleeper car.
So far, 1700 miles since rebuilt and running great. I had to replace the meth check valve cuz the vacuum was sucking the meth while driving. I got an AEM check valve and AEM meth line filter too.
One more car show on the 29th and finally to PBIR on the 30th to run with Hooked on Driving (HOD).

Hey Juan----nice going guy-- Youre work is paying off.
Since I couldnt get your timing file to work on my 64 bit computer what is it doing up top at high load. At load 180+ and over 6K are you at 19-20 range?

Juan, Looks like I am getting the same engine build as you did.
Cam didnt want to go with the low compression rotor set up for me. Just the taller seals, balanced, blueprinted etc. I have learned to listen to people that know a lot more than I when it comes to engine building. Said the engine looked brand new after he cracked it. Be ready by next week--maybe?
We are retuning.

You know we need a Rx8 Pettit reunion

I'll be in Orlando next week and Dan (vice^grip) is meeting us at Disney, does that count? I think I figured out my stalling after refueling problem. It wasn't the purge solenoid, so the only thing I can think of is the charcoal canister is getting flooded with fuel and sending fuel into my intake when I gas up. Not looking forward to dropping the differential and everything in the rear to get to it though.

Glad you made the right decision and stop worrying about meaningless things. In my case 300+ whp is good enough specially for what we do. Sure you can get more hp out of the renesis but then it will burn a hole in your pocket. If I want more hp I'll buy me a Roush 427R Stage 3 Stang which might be coming in the next couple of years. Not to track it but more for show and fun drives.

Said the engine looked brand new after he cracked it.
I don't understand.......so what was wrong with it???

The Eva[ purge valve.
From the intake to the evap canister.
It has a wire connection and two vacuum fittings.
The valve is one way, switch the two vacuum lines and try again.

Ok--things i have changed during this tear down.
1st-- V mounted my secondary water pump
2- figured out an under tray spolier to help with engine bay heat.
3- think I am going to lower my oil pressure a little by removing one washer from the front regulator.

Pictures to come at some point.

Cam is going to retune. How does that work with the efi dude? How do you download an E mail file to the efi dude?
After that do you just plug it into the ob2 port and it will automatically flash the pcm? Someone is going to have to walk me through this!

Do yall realize that the oem oil coolers are mounted at a slight rearward angle on the lateral edge?
I know the scoops/shroud catchs the air pretty good but I think i will try to straighted that rearward rake out a little. There is room.

Juan--nothing wrong with engine--just wanted a good build. My blown engine is still in the car. hanging by the mounts

OD

That was my first thought. Already changed it out, didn't fix it. I didn't think about swapping the hoses though.

Can someone take a look at their purge solenoid and let me know which port they route to where? On mine, the inner port is going to the engine and the outer one is going to the charcoal canister.

I have already taken mine off--but i do remember I think that the outer port goesss--------------------------------------------- behind door number 1!!!!

didnt the charcoal canister use to be in the oem intake--didnt it?
heck just to trouble shoot disconnect it all together plug up the vacuum hose and see if the symptoms go away---youre gas millage will suffer a little while you do this.
I highly doubt that the purge valve itself is causing idle problems? It just will not pull that much gas?

Nah, charcoal canister is above the rear differential. The catch tank was next to the purge valve on the intake manifold. Like I said, it only happens when I get gas for about the first 2 minutes. Then it's fine. It actually started doing this when I first had the SC installed and I drove it back from FL back in Oct. '07. It only did it about every other time and I just lived with it. Now it pretty much does it every time a fill up.

Not sure how much it takes, but my AFR is Max'ed out rich at 10 while it's doing this. I tried not filling up, but I got tired of pushing.

Well, after not much help at the dealer, I found the pettit supercharger install guide and found that my hoses were in fact reversed. I swapped them back. I'll fill-er-up tomorrow and see what happens.

Moon, It's always been drivable. It's been this way since the SC was installed back in '07.

I looked at mine last night more closely and its the ipurge vavle nside tube that goes to the sc vauum, outside tube to the line.

Moon --been meaning to ask---what did you see when you locked the ssv open? Idle rough?
lean? At what rpm did it clear?
I really dont like that valve opening/shutting so much while on track, there HAS to be some transition things happening that we cannot see by our data gathering ability.

No idle problems, smooth as silk at 850 rpms. Couldn't tell you if it was lean cause my efidude isn't working on my new computer yet but I didn't have any lean codes. The only code was a tunning valve code.

that's the way mine was. According to the install manual, it's supposed to be the opposite.
