The Official Overboosted Overlords Club
There are more. The point though in the great turbo vs sc debate - is what caused the motor to go -- tune, ignition, fuel etc.... too many variables.
So when it comes to reliability the best way is to leave it alone - no one can know exactly.
Example ImportShowoff blew his motor on the Esmeril kit.... but why?!?!?!?!!? When I vac tested the Wastegate it was hosed.... hmmm - if the wategate is leaking boost and not opening and he was f-ing with his BC settings....do you think it might have gone kaput?!?!? But you never hear that - you hear "POS turbo blew my car up!?!?!!?!?!?!LEET111!!!!"

I'm about 150 miles away from having 20,000 boosted (1500 of those miles are with a 13psi pulley).
Original motor.
Pettit owners probably aren't paying Brettus any mind because he's not selling a competing product, plus I think all of us know he's just joking around.

Goddamn thats a lot of boost.
Question for you guys, what MAF g/s were you guys getting NA and what are you seeing now that you are boosted? I'm trying to get a baseline idea to see the difference in flow from stock to where I am now, to when I go FI. I just saw my highest NA number so far tonight of 230 g/s. Is that decent for NA?

I'm shooting for 15 psi once I upgrade my injectors and get water/meth. Oh and when I can figure out what to do with the coil issue....Hopefully my motor isn't already toast from the recent misfire episode with BHR kit
I have 15k on my kit most of it running 12-13 psi peak. Then again, I commute in my car alot so the portion of those miles actually spent at positive pressure probably isn't very high. The car still pulls 19-20" inches at idle.

Rote8 is getting 355 g/s with his tune, and the same pulley. We're both getting 19-20 inHg at idle.
230 g/s sounds pretty awesome for NA.
Cool, thanks Bastage! At the very least it will give me a point of comparison to see what percentage of flow I've gained by going FI. I know my modifications thus far have made a big difference because I was never close to 230 g/s before.
Just hang tight for Ray et al to figure it out.
What was you vac before? -13 / -14 is not too bad... some motors just do that - not sure why.... part of it seems to be where you put the vac sensor. If the motor makes good power and idle is rock solid you should be fine.
OK, here's your argument:
Greddy Turbos pwn Pettit Superchargers in the cost/power department, unless you factor in the cost of rebuilding your engine.
Greddy Turbos pwn Pettit Superchargers in resales (see RX-8 Club Classifieds for proof, to my knowledge, no Pettit Supercharger kit has ever been resold), which begs the question, has a single Greddy Turbo kit ever destroyed engines in more than one car?
Nice torque curve btw. Looks relatively flat, unlike most turboed 8 torque curves I've seen.

.
Also I would say that because a turbo creates boost so early , this in itself creates a need for more precise tuning to prevent damage , than a SC .
So yes I do agree that a SC is easier on our motors . This can be overcome fortunately with good tuning etc.
I think that my 306hp greddy will pwn your 330ish hp SC

phills 8 is the only one I have heard of.
