I was actually talking about upgrading the wastegate to a different one.

You can port it out and modify it but I'm not keen on doing that.

the bypass is tiny from the pics i have seen and the a/r on the exhaust housing is so small.... opening it up would probly help out top end where it will be open anyway..... and has anyone used a dual port waste gate been looking but i cant find anything...

Gotya .

BTW - no-one has made more than about 290whp with the 60-1 BNR yet . But I do know a little birdie that may well do it very soon .

ok - I was talking about the stock internal WG . Making that flow more . We have certainly not seen any evidence here that it does anything .
And as far as i know - no-one has tried and external gate with the BNR either . So is your "20whp gain " statement based on what you have seen in other systems or have you actually seen it with the BNR setup as well ?

With the stock GReddy turbo.
One might assume that the gain would be at least as much with the BNR since it is typical to see 20 HP on ANY turbo car going from an internal to an external gate (if properly plumbed, which is easy on the RX-8).

If I understand correctly people have found the best results blocking off the APV's with the blocking plate. Though I'm not sure that would be necessary with the setup I am going for.

Also can someone correct me I thought greggs was using a 60-1 BNR this last socal dyno day and hit 360 whp before he started running out of injector?

280-290 whp

the greddy kit had a block off plate for the APV, but if you're aiming for higher power, you want it working.

Awesome... I have no idea where I heard 360 from, there I go again pulling numbers out of my ***.

Well we shall see what i make with this kit wish me luck!!

Worst case I get to see how well those cryo treated apex seals hold up.

Based on what I've seen , I would venture to suggest that any gains you might see from an external gate (in a Greddy setup) are related more to the better control than to any gains from increased flow .

.................................................. ..

You have 2 options for the Greddy upgrade. A T04B H3 and a TO4E 60-1. Both units come with the upgraded thrust section and water cooled center housing. Price is $ with core. The unit also comes with upgraded wastegate actuator assemby that is adjustable from .55 bar to 1.0 bar. The 1-2 bar actuator is special order but no additional cost.

I was looking at this today on the stock greddy turbo. I was toying with the idea of turning that pipe into a 2" outlet while still utilizing the stock pipe...

Its doable just not sure if its reliable, it is a very very tiny diameter outlet I think my blow off valve is bigger than that.

I got my BNR upgraded turbo mounted and I should be finished with putting the rest of the engine bay back together on the 28th when I return to my car, so I should have updates on the 50 trim upgrade soon after

If it didn't get covered in the last 4 years and 41 pages ago I highly doubt a 2 yr bump and wishful thinking will lead to a breakthrough.
