Looks good Shaunv you may want to call me on Monday. For the record we did not pull the fuse when we did our comparison runs, we wanted a apples to apples comparison with no other variables.

Sure. I'll give you a call. Hope you're feeling better. The dotted line is without the fuse pulled.

I drove a few times on the freeway.

Seems to pull a lot harder on the bottom end. Easier to chirp the tires in second.

Seems like the bog with the pedal to the metal is gone.

Pulls all the way through to red line.

SAD thing is I raced a IS 450 F off the line and had him for three car lengths then goodbye

All the time the car was pulling hard. 416 poines and 371 torque is fat in a straight line.

Gay, I thought you were doing the dyno to show with and without ignition...

But like you said thats a good dyno for a (nearly)stock car and if the mustang really shows 10-15 less hp then with your ignition you are making the HP that a RX-8 should make if it truly made 238 or 232 hp from the factory. We should make 192-197 rwhp from the factory with a standard 17% drive-train loss. My dyno showed 500 rpms less than the stock tach did.

Nice Razz1, lol trying to race a IS450F. He better beat you it costs $56k!

17%? No way. Not for a fairly efficient driveline. IF the car made 232hp, we should lose NO MORE than a typical NA/NB miata - about 26whp. Even NC miatas lose only about 30whp. (that's IF they're power isn't rated too-high, too) If Mazda sold a 232hp Rx8, it should dyno at 205whp, minimum.

I took my car to the dyno a while back..

The machine was acting up. it could not read past 6K rpm and at that point i was pushing 179 HP and
124 pounds of torque

bout 82 degree weather.

Im hoping i can get to 190 at least after this mod =]]

I don't think you will see a 11 HP boost but good luck! Hopefully the previous Dyno was not right.

Some calculators say 15% and some say typically around 17%, I was giving Mazda the benefit of the doubt and using the 17%. That means at 232 - 17% = 192.5, even if you use the 15% you get 197. 205 would be a perfect drive train or using the 238 hp flywheel number.

I think our cars are actually making 220 hp from the factory and the only accurate number we were given was the torque number. I had to spend $1500 to make the factory hp number

Did you ever, or do you have............a way to pull the code?

In one post you said you had more pressing issues before you got to this mod, was that car related?

Couple of people on the club lately have had intake leaks(clamps no tight) and or screens that got knocked out of position, you taken a look at those?
Along with the above.................did you take off the intake to put this in?

Sorry, but since you are RHD, I just can't help but think some part of the directions might be bass ackwards for you, ya know what I mean? I'm just not that familiar with the differemces...........if there really are any. But..............it bugs me!

That all depends. Mustang dynos have user-programmable "correction" factors that allow them to be calibrated within a range. For example, one large aftermarket manufacturer here in LA has a Mustang that they have calibrated so it duplicates the results of the Dynojet at a nearby shop they formerly used, and may still call on from time to time if there is a scheduling conflict.

Indeed. Its telling that my AWD car "lost" about 42hp (on that dyno, on that day...yadda, yadda), based on it's rating from Subaru, yet a RWD RX8 must have lost about 55hp based on IT's "rating" from mazda.

:beers:

Well there were supposed to be some other RX8s there which would have been a good comparision. Unfortunately there weren't.

working through it with Scott - will update when we have it solved

Pretty sure RHD is just the same as LHD - they all fitted up exactly as per the instructions ....

Yeah they say AWD loses a higher percentage through the drive train, like 20%-25% and with our rear differential being a 4.44 our lose shouldn't be that high. I wonder if dyno's have trouble being accurate at 8500-9000 rpms?

Does anyone know what the rwhp is for a stock Honda S2000? That's a car that is rated at very close HP and TQ, has a 6 speed, and also redlines at like 8000+, if they dyno lower as well then maybe it is the high rpms... I have a feeling they dyno at 200+ rwhp stock though.

Dyno's not a valuable absolute number. It's only really a good comparison tool. From Dyno to dyno I've seen MY RX8 dyno from 180hp to 195hp.

DMP next weekend when you have some RX8's dyno at PAI could you post up some of their numbers to see where they stack up?

Unfortunately I won't be at the dyno event I've organized for the 29th. Lame, I know...but I just started a class...for saturdays. :-/

I'm hoping Kristopher will take the lead and post up results. I'll try to find a guy who could drive my RX8 there and dyno for me, too.

of coarse not!! lol temperature changes.. humidity changes everything has little factors in what number it throws down..

what ever number im pushing it is kinda low but when i see myself door to door with a 350z, g35 and mustang Gts i know something isnt right. haha those things are pushing more power more torque but sure they do weigh 300-400 pounds more lol.. but im no lightweigth either

Im 250 POUND 6'2'' guy

maybe the 8's are a freak of nature lol No clue

That and calibration can play a big role. As well Dynojets vs. Mustangs use two different ways to measure and get different absolute measurements.

Search around on this forum and others. People claim 5% to 15% differences in value from dyno to dyno depending on how it's calibrated etc.

Like I said hopefully next weekend Kristopher_d or someone else with an 8 that's going to the next dyno day will get a reading worth comparing.

What I want to ask is has anyone performed an engine dyno on the Renesis?

If 250hp was a lie...who's to say that 232 wasn't also a lie?

Mine made 171 and the air/fuel was terrible in stock form, but I did not pull the fuse, I actually forgot to even press the dsc button. The air/fuel did lean out after k&n filter and exhaust and it shot up to 188 rwhp with both of those. But 171 is ridiculous. I forgot to mention in was 90+ degrees out.

Check out Racingbeat's website. They have a Renesis on an engine dyno.
