10 kg front and 8 kg rear. Many aftermarket company use a Kg rating, that is Kg's per mm traveled. The magic conversion # is 0.0179.

So my front springs have an equivalent rating of 560 lbs

My rear springs have and equivalent rating of 445 lbs
'
These are no where near race car stiffness. If things dont work out playing around with the springs this time around I will be placing a order through Fat Cat Motorsport for a custom built set up.

Check it: http://fatcatmotorsports.com/FCM_Bil...revalve_NC.htm

that rear spring rate is about twice what the mazdaspeed spring rate is? No wonder its stiff?
Have yall consider calling speedsource? They have suspension set ups for sale all the time. Once they offered me a olifin(sic) coil over set up they used for a short period for around 2500.
Those guys KNOW suspension for our car.
Heck just go with the KW varient 3 set up for the street and the occasional track day--its hard to beat?

The racing beat springs a not stiff at all, There have also been found to test lower then the rating.

I dont much like the V3 I do not want a triple or double adjustable dampener. I want something I can set and forget.

I really like the idea of the fat cat set up as the dampener is custom valved to the spring rates and tested on a shock dyno. They do the valving and spring selection for you with your goals in mind. They even send you the recommended alignment settings. There is no valves to fiddle with or set just install and enjoy.

I dont mind my suspension being stiff I just dont want it to bounce or have zero compliance from the damper. I am not sure I will be able to find a good valve setting on the stance dampener. I like a stiff suspension just not a harsh one.

There is a Chance OD that the springs are installed wrong. 9k is going to check it out for me this weekend.

your spring rates are too high, way higher than they either need or ought to be

You are correct they are higher then they need or ought to be ! My car will not be daily driven and is my "weekend warrior".

I see no reason these spring rates cannot work on the street for occasional driving. I bet most national level autocross guys that are allowed are running right around the same rate or higher in the front with softer rates in the rear for more rotation. They are also most likely running more bar in the front then I am as well.

If I wanted something soft to drive on the street every day I would have gone a much different route. My current set up is a Strong compromise and far from ideal but should work just fine for me until I get more wheel time at the track.

never mind that you are hearing this from one of the guys you are referring to, that your rotation comment is backwards, and that I have helped several road racers who were making the same mistake

Fat Cat has a good rep and a custom set up will be nice.
I am interested in how this turns out. You will have an 8 with the highest springs rates I know?
I can give your car a nickname...... "Stiffy"!

Keep up the Good Work
Thanks dude!

I have a none reman 2005 engine now coming in with around 6k on it I picked up from Team. I have since decided to hold off on the work till my R3 gets in and 9krpms car is done then do everything at once - the actual SC.

Its alot of work not even counting the SC. I will be doing a full coolant hose replacement with brand new samco stuff all the mazmart cooling and oil mods, full oil line and oil pan replacement, a s2 tranny, trick carbonetic clutch and flywheel and engine replacement. Once that is all done and everything is up and running again the SC will go in.

So in a hold pattern currently but trying to do things the right way.

I should have some trick parts coming in the next few weeks and will try and post pics then.

I was looking at everything last night and I think most of the mods can go on with the engine and tranny on a pallet. I'll just need to modify the pallet a bit. But working on my motor on the pallet was pretty easy.

Yeah, I know we were talking of adding the SC at the same time as everything else but I think we should just get it back together with ALL the other stuff first make sure everything looks healthy maybe make a baseline run then work our way from there. + it would be cool to drive it with my crazy clutch set up and S2 tranny before adding FI into the equation. It also gives us a chance to break in the clutch and do some testing on the new suspension set up first.

Series 2 tranny will go well with the supercharger. This will be my next major mod for sure. Just have to get over the shock of the supercharger upgrade spend.

On the track series 2 cars where 10kmph quicker on the straight compared to other NA cars We had a good sample spread all showing similar results.

looks like it bent the exhaust as well so now I am forced to finally decide on a exhaust. If I go with an aftermarket JDM bumper I will most likely go with the matching exhaust. If i stick with stock bumper Ill go with borla or the greddy evo tt.
