Questions about Greddy Turbo.

1.Instructions say to hookup a vac. line from the internal wastegate to either of the intake manifold plugs.. I guess it doesn't matter which one, But I wonder if we hookup both intakes with a T and then hookup to the wastegate, Maybe it would give us a more reliable vacuum for the wastegate. What do you guys think.

2. The Greddy kit also states to hookup the pressue sensor to the intake just behind the throttle body.. But the Profec-EO1 states that to make sure you install the pressure sensor pointed down. Does anyone know why, and then shouldn't the Greddy sensor also be pointed down for the same reason...

I don't know about #1, I just picked one.

And I believe your correct about #2.
I looked up the instructions to the EO1 and it's the same pressure sensor. I have mine zip tied sideways. I'll adjust it to have the vac hose pointing down tommorrow.
I do not know why they need it to be pointing downwards, some kind of zero calibration or something.

i have installed my turbo and am still having some pronounced issues.

1. greddy sent me thier latest map about 10 days ago. still backfires and need to get jeff's map installed. this one backfires like a mother

2. stalling when shifting to neutral after cruising at same speed or accelerating

3. smells very very rich

4. pronounced uneveness (jerky) between boost and vacume and sometines just when driving at steady speed (usually in 5th at 70-80)

things i have done:

a. connected the top bov to a T fitting...one branch to downward facing tube just behind throttle body and the other branch to the supplied greddy sensor that plugs into the e mangage box.

b. disconnected the dongle. black from harness to black on other dongle in all japanese writing. connected the green and white wires together. left the pink and white free

c. adjusted the bov

I am wondering now after others concerns about whether my hi flow cat and midpipe from SR is interfering with a smooth running system?

what else can i check do or modify to find the key to this problem?

also, what is the best power lead for connecting the greddy control unit II (for bf gauges)

andy

The hiflow cat/midpipe may be an issue. The emanage map isn't tuned for that. Boosted posted here about his car not running right with his midpipe on, but lost some boost once he went back to the stock cat.

As far as the power lead, I tapped into the cigarette lighter positve lead for my guage and boost controller.

Can someone take a pic of this?

The air fuel mixing hose connects to a fitting on the air filter.

Thank Adrian. I see that you remove the small metal tubing that was on the airbox tray.
Or did you re-route it?

Thank Adrian,:

Other question. How the heck did you get the PCM cover on after you hook up the e-management?

I chopped up the cover using a dremmel. Trimmed some of the side facing the cabin. Plus removed the bracket that the pcm was being held in. I'll check for pics of it tonight once I'm home.

I will be doing the Greddy turbo kit install in a week. I will have access to a shop with a lift and a couple of mechanics to help that have done a few turbo installs on miatas.
I've gone over the instructions and everything is clear, EXCEPT for connecting the vacuum lines. Can anyone that has installed the kit give further details.

Specifically section 3-5 Airinx Installation, steps 7 and 8.
Also, section 3-7 emanage/ vac hose connection, step 5.

The full instructions can be found here.
link for the full instructions does not work

I didn't have my digital camera with me, heres a couple with my cellphone. I need to cover up the wiring with some electrical tape or something just so water and dirt doesn't get in.

That's correct.
So the yellow line hose goes to the S-1 suction pipe and the white line hose goes to the airnix adaptor.
The other nipple on the S-1 pipe is for the oil filler pipe hose.

Adrian: Thanks for everything.
I don't know if you had to get a new O2 or not. But you won't happen to know where
the other end hook up to?

I'll start her up tomorrow. Once I put in the new O2

Does it matter which nipple I put it in? I put the Oil filler pipe hose on the nipple closet to the Airnix

My O2 sensor didn't break. Lucky, I guess. Not sure where it connects. Can't you just follow it up? I'll see if I can find it in the manual.

Doesn't matter which nipple.
Also, I believe it'll still run if you switched the metering pump hose and airjet hose.... they're both incoming air, just one isn't as turbulent.

Thanks.

Yes I tried to follow the wire. But it was wrapped over the transmission.

You might be lean. It depends on where you are in the RPM band when it goes that lean.
Also depends on how you are measuring your A/F.

Did you reset your PCM after you installed the new MAP?
