You don't think those are valid questions? That's over 1000 hp on gasoline and even if you want to propose using it on E85 or E100 a Walbro would not be my first choice for sure.
If you believe yourself to be beyond reproach then you probably shouldn't. Such a pump foesn't really fit in this general subject either, but I suppose you will take that personal too.

Last I checked this thread was in the major hp upgrade section not the Trouble Shooting

Yes, very few and the 255 lph Walbro that is discussed here and has known reliability issues will get you to near 600 hp, and there are several threads discussing the 300+lph Aeromotive pump
more is not always better, especially if you prefer not to be heating your fuel up by recirculating it continuously due to installing a grossly oversized pump

I am aware of the previous/current issues involving Walbro pumps. The Aeromotive pump has issues as well on other automotive applications but I have not researched if there are issue similarities on the Rx8.
I don't claim to be knowledgeable on why a particular pump is used in certain applications and not on others. Or why it is/isn't a bad choice for the Rx8. I leave that to the experts and that is why I posted the link in the first place. So it can be discussed and learning can take place. Thanks for your input.

It seemed to indicate a bigger must be better thought process rather than an understanding of the subject. 400 lph is mega-overkill. Maybe this will help:

The point of all this big fuel pump discussion is that you no more want too big of a fuel pump than too big of a turbo. There are ramnifications like excessive fuel recirculation, high amp draw requiring larger power supply wiring etc. even people using the smaller Aeromotive pump face this issue and may want to consider slowing it down with a pulse modulator or something similar. In theory the pump will live a longer life too.

I did a bit of searching but I can't find a how to swap the existing S1 fuel pump with a Walbro. Anyone have a link they can share please? Any rewiring required?

I haven't read the entire thread front to back, but has anyone tried a deatschwerks 255lph pump?
It seems like it might fit, the walbro p/n used in the 8 is used in sti's and evo's, deatschwerks makes pumps for them so it would seem pretty strait forward.
Am I missing something. Emailed them just waiting on a reply to see if they can shed some light.

So basically all I have to do is follow MM's instructions on page one to disesemble the pump assembly. Install the new pump...Then melt the siphon pop up?
Anyone know where I can get the special removal tool?

Not to mention I was not talking about the O-ring (should have made that more clear)...I was asking about the removal tool which I need quickly. If someone were to give me the name of the tool the search button would be more useful to me.

Disregard questions above...I got my answers thanks to Ray.
MM,
I read in one of the previous posts you mention installing the new pump may require a retune if you are experiencing starvation at WOT. My question is: can I install the new pump, even though I am on my third tune, and perform WOT? I want to make sure I can still do the datalogging for the next tuning session. So far the only occurence of starvation, to my knowledge, is during high G's at an autocross.

or is the areomotive something different?
