This thread is for the RX8. You are attempting to swap a Renesis into some other craptastic vehicle using a setup that has no relation to the RX8. You are like a nuisance pigeon roosting and laying turds all over the place. Go back to your own thread and keep your unrelated crapfest there.

thanks for the in put guys. I haven't really noticed a problem. At my power level I think I am ok with the 09 pump?
I did notice once at Rd Atlanta that my lc 1 wideband showed a little higher a/f than the previous lap but now i believe its the lc 1 sensor that needs replacing. Recent Cobb data is ok.
I am running the 09 pump. Its a little better.

you need to monitor fuel pressure, not AFR

uhg

After only two months the Walbro just got a LOT louder this week. The car still runs fine but it sounds like a power drill is running wide open in the tank. Am I about to have to replace that d@#m thing again?

Ouch that sucks... Well that kinda proves/tells people right there that even the good brand Pumps will crap out... Did you run out of fuel at all since U installed the Walbro? Install it backwards by mistake perhaps? That will make it whine and wear down the FP's life..

I think that "Walbro's" and Walbro's are 2 different things. There are so many Chinese knockoffs around that you never really know what you are getting. There even reputable wholesalers getting stung with fakes

Did not run out of fuel at any point.
Did not install backwards. Installed in stock fuel pump assembly with idiot proof stock connector.
Did melt/fuse the top of the siphon stack.

At 161,000 miles, I have always run the tank down to about 1/4 tank before filling up. Worked fine for the first 100,000 miles on the stock pump. It sounds like a stupid question to me, but I’ll ask it anyway. Is there any way possible that pre-mixing 2-4 oz per 10-13 gallon fill up could contribute to early failure?

I love my car and have no intention of ever parting with it, but this is seriously pissing me off.

How gould you tell if you got a knockoff?

No ill will intended against where I got it from, but for the purposes of diagnosis, I got it from BHR.

if you are running a stock engine and not tracking the car the oem pump should be ok for you? The 09 fp is a good upgrade that only requires very little work to change over. The cup assembly etc is a better design too.
Aeromotive has a drop in available but for oem thats overkill imho.
pre mix--at the ratios we do --should not affect the pump. Now if the gas is really dirty where you live then pre mix can complicate things a little.
I have never liked the walbros for this very reason--they just dont have a good rep in Georgia. Good pumps--just dont last--at least done here they havent. However you could not have bought from a better place than BHR so I bet this is an authentic Walbro pump?

Thanks for the quick response OD. The '04 is bone stock. Original fuel pump made it 111,000 miles. First stock replacement pump made it 4,000. Second stock replacement made it about 41,000 miles. The Walbro is still working well enough not to effect the way the car runs at about 5,000 miles. It just got WAY louder this past week.

I may consider the ’09 conversion if this thing dies on me in the near future.

glad to be of some help. Getting noisey is a sign of it is starting to go out--dont get stranded in the hills up there
If you decide to go to the 09--just let me know and I will pm you with what you need to modify to install it. It's easy.. The 09 model pump is a denso pump--much better

I believe that MM said that all the Walbros are made in China. Both from the knockoffs and the Walbro company. I had two oem pumps go bad in 50k miles before I switched out to the Walbro from BHR. I have had 30k trouble free miles with it. It seems that quality control with that company may be a problem. I wish Bosch made a drop-in replacement.

That is correct. The Walbro name was sold to a company named "TI Automotive" in 1999. They are based in Michigan, but their manufacturing is almost entirely in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.

Bosch manufactures their fuel pumps in China.

I'll except that as true. I'll bet Bosch requires better QC on their items manufactured there. They have a name to protect.

I suppose.

Names like Bosch, Borg Warner, Carter, Walbro, Holley, Accel, etc are just properties like the product themselves.
They are licensed and used to lend credibility to a product and add value.

They don't particularly mean anything intrinsically.

I have not seen any talk about the new 400LPH fuel pump yet so I thought I would contribute:

How many people here do you think need 100+ gph fuel flow and at that power level why would they want to use a brand known for reliability issues?
