Impossible or hard fit? I can order Garret parts with huge discounts so i might give it a shot instead of going with the 3071...
Impossible without major modifications down there, it's so tight as it is, I can't explain

The 3071 compressor housing goes between the exhaust runners on the manifold.
the '76 won't fit in that space.
You can't move the turbo up or out because it will contact the floor of the car.

I guess if you really wanted to, couldn't you machine the compact 2871 housing to fit the 76mm compressor? This is hypothetically speaking of course.

If you have the money and the time, you can probably do anything.
That said, I already lose money on the upgrades and people think its too expensive...

I have spoken with Tony at UMS about this very thing and he thinks its possible. I'll probably do it on my own car at some point to get to that elusive 500 HP mark.

That will be an interesting project Jeff. I have no money to finance this and test on my engine right now but i have 23liters of my own brew beer coming to support you!

The elusive 500 hp make would be really cool to see and I'm sure isn't impossible to hit. Of course I'm still waiting for someone to prove they've hit the elusive 400 hp mark first. Describing what it "feels" like doesn't count.

Chris from Esmeril posted a 400+rwhp dyno almost a year ago

Really? Cool. Is he the only person who has done it? The real question is, was it on pump gas?

Jeff, if you hit 500hp you know I'll steal the keys to your car the next time you're in CA.
(even if just for a quick spin)

If I remember correctly it was 414whp and 304 wtq at 16psi on 93 pump gas

I remember similar numbers too, the dyno pull was not optimal though, i still prefer how the greddy-based upgrade performs.

I thought you stopped offering the upgrades? I went your route cause i thought it was a great deal for both the machine work and the cost of a garrett 3071 plus the little bits that complete it all. Why I am so patient even though I nag every now and then for a status update

The MM upgrade does take a while, but I've personally found it was worth it. Then again I had him out here in person for the initial tuning. The 3071R upgrade is definitely a good choice though, I don't think you will be unhappy.

The boost controller wasn't setup properly on the dyno according to Chris, causing boost to spike the power to spike. They also stopped running at 7,000rpm so they could have made more power

Will tell you an italian saying "Con i "se" e con i "ma" la storia non si fa". Which roughly translates to: with "ifs" and "Buts" you don't make history".

dunno about the 500 on the x76 but the 71 can definitely go up to 400.

I don't believe that it will . Until MM posts some proof i think it is all hot air (very hot air ) .
The flow map for the 3071 does not support that assertion - not even close .

It will make over 400 in a piston car but not a rotary .
MM should never have told me how to read a compressor map LOL
