Admittedly, I have not read the entire thread yet... but from what I gather, they are trying to find out if there's interest in them developing a kit for this. So they would still need to develop the kit, work out all the kinks and then work on production, which could be a fairly long process.

So as it stands, there is no kit. Just saying, be prepared to wait a bit if you're actually planning to go this route.

The all in cost for the 3-rotor Renesis, making 1/2 bar of boost, including install & fab fees, would be somewhere around $15-20k, right?

Adding in the $20k for a used RX-8 in good shape and another $3k for the suspension mods to make it drivable, that's close to $45k, more if you factor in the cost of a new vs used RX-8.

That's a lot of bones for a car that can't be made street-legal in most of the US.

For $40-45k, there's a lot of 1-3 year old very, very fast and fun cars that can be had.

Fun? Definitely. Good value? The market will tell you that.

I paid $13k for an 05 RX-8 with 30k on it 2 years ago. There are good cars you can get out there right now for $12k or less. That said, $30-35k is pretty damn good for a turbo 3 rotor monster.

Many people want a 20B conversion,
number of people that can actually afford the money, time for one is extremely small.

I think this is a great idea. I'm doing a 20B swap the end of next year. I wish it could be sooner but realistically can't. I'd be interested in this kit in a couple years...

Where are we at with this "kit" ?

I am starting my build currently.

Right now we are simply tearing apart the 20B and will be rebuilding it. I will be fabing out and documenting as much as I can. Including the engine mounts steering solution and simply figuring out how we can mount everything up to be race track driven. And I am sure I will be needing help.

I will be starting a thread up soon.

20b kit all the way can you imagine how much money/time you would save not having to do so many modifications! its worth it all the way.

Come on man you gotta make that kit! I'm in! who else is?

Is there a tentative price that this kit would run? I was thinking, even if you had to have a shop do your fab work (I am inexperienced in this) it would still be worth it.

I'd buy a kit too, actually, I'm just finishing buying up all the parts.
Cosmo 20b (has)
Turbonetics T76 (need)
2x 255lph walbro dual fuel pumps (has)
ACT Heavy Duty Pressure plate and Streetlight Flywheel (has)
Microtech lt12s ECU (has) still need dongle though.
New Radiator (need)
New Intercooler (need)

and still need to have manifold made as well as subframe/motor mounts

I havnt see any updates on this at all for the main thing I really think that if u have the right resources for this is should be difficult in getting the motor mounted in the hard part is wiring. If I had the money right now I would make kit to mount the motor and sell the mounting kit my self.

If you researched first you would have learned that even if this kit existed, you want to steer well clear of ANYTHING built by these guys

Oh? Why?
If this kit doesn't exist by 2015 then I'm going with an ls1.
Maybe I'll bring back the soul of a 20b in my 8 when I have the skills and capability to do the swap myself further down the road.

Well I thought I shld give Esmeril some feedback and the rest of the forum..
I purchased a 20b kit including turbo, inter cooler, bov, wastgate, manifold, piping, ignition and subframe extension with mounts.... I live in australia so sometimes communication was a bit difficult and sometimes they were rather slow with answers to my many many many questions.. I am very much a newbie to engine installs and fabrication tho I think my mechanical skills and knowledge aren't too bad but I probably did ask many stupid questions.. The kit and parts received seem to be top notch tho I haven't done the install yet, need more money to complete the project. I have however performed a mock up with most parts fitted to the engine and everything appears to be in order. The shipping was a little on the slow side but they did throw in a freebie and some nice discounts to make up for it..
Overall I feel that I got pretty good value for money and I liked their can do attitude, not like the builders round here who were all very cautious and even quite negative regarding this project, 20b rx8..
The entire kit inc shipping approx 10k.
My engine was about 5k + about 4500 for rebuild doweling porting stronger seals and levelling the housings.
I need a radiator, two big **** oil coolers, exhaust, fuel and ECU system (not yet decided, maybe LPG) a oil and water delivery system (EWP), and clutch and I'll be on the road ( I hope)
So all up it's gonna be about 25k BUT, I'll achieve 500rwp without breaking a sweat (or anything else- cept maybe my drivetrain). I broke 2 renesis engines already without a turbo and with stock HP, so as far as I'm concerned, Rene engine is a waste of time. Nothing beats a 20b fullstop.

And thanks to Esmeril I can achieve this without the trial and error of building/fabricating subframe extension etc.. Plus I get the proven package of a single turbo kit.
My only criticism was the poor communication. End.

Oh and I could've opted for their fuel system as part of the kit but I'm determined to go LPG.
