Question Best way for HP upgrade?

I have had my 2004 8 for about a month now and I have replaced the coils, plugs, wires, gutted the cat, removed and cleaned the SSV valve, sea foamed the engine, so I am running pretty good now and at stock HP.

Now I have been reading lots of posts on different upgrades like headers and intakes, and I am realizing that bolt ons are not going to get my anywhere for horsepower on this engine.

So I am wanting to know what is the most realistic way to get 280 - 300 HP out of this car while still keeping it fairly reliable? Am I going to need to do a engine swap like a older 2 rotor, or a 20b or a LS1? Or will a turbo give me reliable power on the stock engine?

My engine only has 66,000 KM so its pretty new I guess. I am not scared of the fabrication part if it is needed since I have access to a welding/machine shop.

So any comments on the most realistic way to go about getting those numbers would be appreciated.

Covered at nausea.............if you do a search.
Turbo or Supercharger, your choice. Swap.........yes it can be done as well. Couple(many?) of threads on that as well.

Yes, I have done the searches on the topics, and I know that they can be done.

I am just looking for opinions on which is the best way to go.

if you want to reach those numbers 280 - 300 hp get a SC or Turbo or do a swap

N/A renesis engine with the best upgrades won't reach those numbers at all

Hopefully nobody is going to let this degrade into another SC vs. Turbo thread.
It's a personal choice and the best you can do is weigh the pros and cons of each and make the decision for yourself. Sorry but it is what it is.

^I concur. You make the choice because all it's gonna do is start the great debate.

Turbo and Rotaries are like Peanut Butter and Jelly... Need I say more? Each is delicous on toasted bread, however if you put both together. You have a sandwich which in some cases can deliver the same satisfaction as SEX (especially when you cut it in half and dunk it into a glass of milk and then enjoy )

So with a basic turbo kit I would be looking at 6-8psi for that horsepower?

that basic turbo can cost basiclly anywhere from $4000 - $5000 depends on the kit and where you get it tuned

For your further amusement - here is the whole quote .

This kit is capable of producing 900 crank HP. That is over 700HP at the wheels. However, getting there will require major upgrades to other areas of the drivetrain, including but not limited to fuel injectors, ignition coils, intake and exhaust piping, fuel pump, ported housings, extra rotors, a different turbo, cooling system upgrades, transmission upgrades, an LS1 swap, differential upgrades and suspension.
It is not an unrealistic expectation to get well into the 250+ HP* range without serious modification with this kit.

It is possible that I may have at one time in some way perhaps hit these numbers in my own car. I will niether confirm nor deny, nor comment on said numbers. However my kit may or may not, though probably not(though you could get lucky!) contain a turbo capable of these numbers.
