Why are you guys installing turbo timers? You aren't driving Hondas!

If the turbo is water-cooled, the turbo timer is completely useless.
If your turbo is only oil-cooled and low-mounted, the turbo timer would have to set to about 30 minutes to make any real difference.

For me I just want the extra peace of mind. Plus this one looks like an OEM piece for a clean install.

Well, see above.

If a turbo timer is giving you "peace of mind", then I might suggest putting duct tape over your gauges while you are at it.

Well if I believed everything everyone said I'd be 100% confused 24/7!

Run a bigger WG, keep the stock WG, dont use a Boost controller, do use a boost controller, don't run a water/oil cooled turbo, do run a water/oil cooled turbo, no turbo timer, yes turbo timer, run 0w/30, run 20w50, only use idemitsu, use any 2 cycle premix, ceramic coat the manifold, don't ceramic coat the manifold, marry a rich woman, never marry and be forever alone.

With so much conflicting information and "facts", I think it's a good idea to venture out and read up a bit more...

After tearing apart the used turbo I got I think it would be rather foolish to not run one... But hey that's just more opinions in the soup of rx8club opinions.

I figure everyone should experiment and try stuff out... Minus those wanting to fit a CAI from a ford focus.

Who do you know that drives the car really hard - in full boost for several minutes - then just parks it and turns it off?
Even after a 20 minute road course session, I get a cool-down lap and it takes a minute or two to get to my paddock spot.

Turbo timers are for ricers, pure and simple.

Exactly. I'm running a turbo timer, I could care less if others run one or not.

Oh so you take our thoughts into consideration. Thanks. I say you should have 2 turbo timers.

ok we have left you alone for a while--how are things?
Almost done?--knowing the holiday can mess with time availability--family does come first etc.

Hopefully the radiator fans too but an electric water pump is a major win just the same

.
my take

Unfortunately that is the way it is with probably any major after-market modification . You just have to take it all in then make your own decision .
