pretty sure no steering wheel adapter. The only adapter I think is the Bose wiring harness for the speakers.

Drove a few hours in the car today... and all is well... The only thing bugging me now is that the color of the HG version isnt a true piano black in direct sunlight. Im probably going to have to repaint it, as it actually ends up looking like a dark olive green in direct sunlight. Looks fine in indirect sunlight... and I tend to notice the little scars on the plastic surrounding the radio from my initial attemts early on to take out the radio...

Oh well... The Metra kit is still worth every penny!

Or take it to a body shop and pay someone $100-$200 to paint and clearcoat it. With all the prep work done I imagine it would be pretty cheap.

If that were the case then everyone would have bought corksport a while ago...the price of this is what makes it nice.

Maybe the flat black is the way to go? Anyone have suggestions or ordered that one yet?

Is the single DIN kit out as well? I am torn between the Alpine IVA-W505 and one of the single DIN Alpine receivers, but I'd like to see what the single DIN kit looks like first.

I'm just afraid that the paint won't stick well to glossy plastic.

lol... painting isnt as hard as you would think... You can get an incredible black finish that looks just like the piano black of the old radio. But if you want specifics:

Step 1: Remove most of old finish with 800 grit sandpaper, followed by 1000 grit sand paper.

Step 2: Filler primer, followed by another sanding with 2000 grit sand paper.

Step 3: Color coat, black about 3 coats, about 5 minutes apart.

Step 4: Clear coat, about 4 or 5 HEAVY layers.

Step 5: Wait 24 hours

Step 6: Wetsand with 2000 up to 3000 sand paper

Step 7: Turtle Wax or 3M medium cut rubbing compound

Step 8: Turtle Wax or 3M polishing compound

Step 9: Wax that baby!

Step 10: Reinstall!

I have had my ashtray painted for a while now...no problems. If you strip all the way down to plastic, you may want to go with an adhesion promoter... I used on my ashtray, but since I am only taking the top layers of clear off the kit, it wont be necessary.
