It's a conspiracy it tell you!
Called RB today to check on the status of my order. Spoke with Chris and he informed me they were on back order. He was very apologetic for not having contacted me, seems I got lost in the shuffle.

So pretty much everything I've ordered has been on back order but one day I shall have my fully functional death star... i mean gauge cluster.

I would have been disappointed if I thought my gauges were going to be here in time, but since I already knew they were coming late this wasn't that big a deal. Chris was very nice and seemed truly upset that he hadn't informed me on his own. He's checking with the guy who's in charge of the gauge pod and said he'd call me back with an exact date of when to expect it.

I'm thinking you need to take a trip up here soon. Free room and board, lots of sights to see (San Francisco, Monterey, the redwood forest), and a half day installing my gauges

Man, I wish I had someone who could do this sort of stuff near me. I tried wiring in a SAFC-II to my FC, but ended up wiring it in backwards *Yeah, I really am that dumb...* so help would be awesome. I really want to get this slapped onto my car. Oh well, I guess I have other things I can buy

Laythor: grats on getting the pod. I'm quite interested in seeing how your car comes out with those gauges.

CyberPitz: you haz no friends?
surely there's forum members who can help you out. Not to pat myself on the back but with this DIY, it's really not THAT hard.

I haz friends in far away places, hahaha. I'd rather not test myself at how well I can follow these instructions. Especially when it comes to wiring of a car. I can already see it...

*shudder*

Cyberpitz, this project should be titled "So easy, even Jedi could do". We're talking about a man who sometimes leaves jacks under cars while he tries to move the car.

I kid, I kid. You could always find a local stereo shop and see what they would charge to help you wire it up.

When you look at what you really have to do for this it's broken down to just a few steps

1. Attach the temp and pressure sender to the oil adapter, install adapter
2. Splice water temp adapter into hose
3. Mount and wire up gauges to pod, mount pod
4. Run wires into engine bay and attach to senders.
5. Profit.

all the gauges and senders arrived today. they look really nice. test fitted them and they sit as well as can be expected for a curved mounting platform. I really wish the RB gauge pod was more "molded" to the gauges, but I expected this and will live.

I will be installing them on Sunday and should have some pictures to put up.

You make it sound so easy......I might just get my father to help me if he can. He used to be in the construction business, and knows way too much about electronics in general. I'd like to do this since:

1.) I don't smoke
2.) It would help to make sure my temps are under control
3.) It just looks cool

So are there any other full digital alternatives now? I have the RB pod from another member, just need the gauges. The Greddy oil filter relocation kit has the ports for the sending units if im not mistaken. So I can just use that right?

Nice looking install. question is did you keep your cig lighter socket for accesories, and what is the small round plug just next to the glove box left side, though maybe you could put cig socket there

I still have the whole ashtray assembly in my garage but seeing as how I never used that cigarette lighter, I decided not to relocate it. My radar detector is hard-wired up by the map lights and when I charge my cell phone, I use the plug in the console.

thanks for the compliment.

OK so from the original post these are the main items, with working links I have found:

- Racing Beat Pod ($96 + shipping)
- Water temp gauge ($53)
- Oil pressure gauge ($53)
- Oil temp gauge ($53)
- Racing Beat Oil Pressure and Temperature Sensor Adaptor ($63)
- Racing Beat Water Temperature Sensor Adapter ($28)
- Pressure Sending Unit ??? Unable to find
- Temperature Sending Unit ??? Unable to find

Can anyone improve on this? Also will the 52.40mm gauges fit the pod OK?

{Update}
Here is a link to a similar install with most of the parts:

just did this with the cyberdine gauges..

never thought i could mess my car up installing gauges! everything was fine when i started the car up. gauges were working, car idleing smoothly. but, when i went for a drive, the car stumbled really bad in 1st gear and at about 6k in second the car started making a very wierd noice and stalled out...it struggled to start. i noticed the gauges were all blinking now and the car SEEMED to run fine exept when i accelerated past 6k in second gear. same result exept it didnt stall out..so i limped home and found that the hose with the rb water temp adapter was leaking. i doubt that this caused this BUT is it possible? any help would be greatly appreciated

could be coincidence could be lots of things. When you say "weird noise", what did it sound like?

please contact whomever you bought the cyberdyne gauges from and see if you can return them. All three of my gauges failed within 1 month and neither the seller nor Cyberdyne would RMA them.

odd that you had mechanical issues with your gauge install.
did you check to make sure everything is fine with the oil system? no oil leak? oil topped off? oil filter properly attached?

the coolant hose leaking probably won't cause a big problem if it's a small leak but you should get that fixed and top off the system.

as for what's a normal temperature when cruising, that's tough to say as it really depends on things such as ambient temperature, humidity, and your cooling mods.
I find that on the highway at 70 - 80° I'm probably in the 180° range for Coolant. My oil is typically 10 - 20° cooler then water temps.

You're in texas so keep an eye on the temps when doing agressive driving in extreme heat.
200 is fine
210 is okay
220 is getting hot
230 = Houston, we have a problem
240+ = engine is on it's way to Rotary Heaven if you don't get it cooled down soon.
