Cobb AcessPORT with TURBO Discussion
Have a quick question, what is the ideal AFR during boost. I would also like to know if I should be monitoring through the AEM Wideband or the AP. During boost my AP reads 11.2 and leans to 11.4, while my AEM WIDEBAND reads 10.6. I understand the instructions read that I should have mid 11's to low 12's during boost. However I just wanted to make sure and confirm because some people mentioned that they want to richen their afr when they are running 11.4 during boost. I remember that with the INT-X the ideal AFR during boost was 11.0, correct me if I'm wrong.
Max power is around 12.3:1.
The "safe" range is 11.5:1.
Crazy safe range is 10:1.
It'll just barely run on stock coils under 10:1.
Where is your AEM in the exhaust? Have you verified it and are you using a fresh sensor?
Do you have a CAT?

Yeah
are the codes just masked? Is this something that I would have to request from you?
Couple of reasons,
I prefer to have more of a bullet proof system with my setup. I prefer just to premix and now there's room for the turbo I've been wanting to use.

They are something that would have to be programmed into your AccessPORT by a Cobb PRO tuner, so I can do that for you.
Injector compensation is no problem at all - provided they are still wired to the harness the right way! (Any idea of the latency numbers on those 800cc?)
I see your order in the queue. It should approve in a few minutes.
It'll go out before the end of next week.

Hmm. I probably didn't recognize your name when I programmed it.
Send an e-mail to ap@mazdamaniac(.com) with what you need exactly and answer the 10 deadly questions below.
1) Real Name
2) Forum Name (if you are on the RX-8 Forum)
3) E-mail address you used to purchase your AccessPORT
4) Year of manufacture of your RX-8
5) Model (M/T, A/T)
6) Location (specifically, if you are in California or have a California model)
7) Induction (normally aspirated, turbo, supercharger)
8) Fuel injectors (if different from stock)
9) MAF/intake setup (custom, MazSport, OE, GReddy, etc.)
10) Other relevant mods (ignition, oiling, exhaust, etc.)

lol. I prefer the "Nut Up" flavor!
No. Obviously, I f'ed up this one.
Ahh. I thought it was something that Rich was doing and didn't tell me about.

Did you get an my email about going uber lean on acceleration?
Is there any change when the high speed relay turns on for the fuel pump? It's odd...Cobb's stage 1 there are no issues with acceleration and I flashed back to back and the issue is with the flash "mmturbotj"...

I'll get right back to you on that tonight.
However, no the pump is not altered.
Does it stay lean or just spike?
Most folks are seeing it go too rich.
Probably just have to change the scaling on the primary injectors.

I started this thought in the Cobb AP Discussion, thinking it was a tuning issue for those that may have not read that thread.
Jeff,
I figured out the crazy rich AFR @ the 100Gm/Sec range on my car. Short story is the flexi-tube I had attached to the K&N MAF tube had a nice kinked bend right before the MAF tube. I took it off and very smooth transition in to boost. Also the boost plants itself @ 5 psi and dosen't drop off. AFR in Boost is 12.5 on the AP..
She goes like stink!
I reattached the extender for now and smoothed out the bend. I didn't want to run with-out a filter. I rather bog than eat a bug or something else.
Now I have to dial in the BOV and re-attach the meth spray and reset the boost controller for 9 psi. Since that was the target psi.
So to everyone that is thinking of taking a short cut with a inexpensive flexi intake extender to get cooler air from the outside, DON'T !
I should know better.
