DIY: Better Flowing Intake Box (Similar to RB Intake Box)
#201
There are two screens in the intake box after the horn. Basically, right after the second screen lies an MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor). You want to leave the second one, the one before the MAF, there and remove the first one. That's the one closest to the filter.

I'll paste my PM answers to you on here for reference and other opinions.

It looks like it may be one piece, but if you try pulling at it from opposite directions you'll see that it's not. Once you get the horn into two pieces, you can simply pull/shake the screen out as it is just sitting between the two parts of the horn.

I think I have a better (albeit Ghetto) mod for this, I'll come back tomorrow with pics. Right now my tool box is in my buddy's Xterra. I keep forgetting to take the damn thing back.

Here's the pic.
The mod is using duct tapes for demostration purpose only. Those will probably come off under heat. I would be using some plastic plate or foam later on. Metal would absorb too much heat.
Right now I have the screens pulled off and I noticed rough idle on my car.

Ok, I would 100% not recommend to anyone taking both screens out. I tried this 2 days ago, and it destroyed my idle, and caused my car to stall a few times. I reinserted one screen, and haven't had an issue since. DON'T remove both.

Power!!

I'll snap his neck.
My car seems to make more power with the horn and the "noise baffles" out. Maybe if I put the horn back in and left the baffles out, I'd get more?
Pre mod, the highest GHP I saw on the scangauge was 254. Post mod, the highest I've seen is 281. Not sure how much is due to the mod, and how much is due to other factors.

I'm not actually sure that there is a correct answer to that? For the most part, this mod is a "try and see if it causes issues or not" deal. So, if it doesn't cause you any problems then you should be fine, if it does try taking the other one out instead as thats what most have done.
